i'm not feeling as young as I used to when lifting this thing on top of my 412 cab either....debating about putting some Neos in it but not sure yet....doesn't have original speakers (has a weber blue and Tonker)...was considering tonkerlites...

Eminence now has a neo mag version of their EVM-12L clone, the EM12N. I fricking love my vintage EVM, except for the weight. If they're close, I'd happily take whatever small downgrade to avoid herniating a disk.

Good looking out. Thanks for this tip

After a shitty couple weeks gear-wise (ebay seller bailing on me on an amp I need and a rare bass I bought from GC being in way worse condition than advertised so I had to return it), I now have a Driving Notion and SEA inbound. Here's hoping.

Thanks, my other 79 Studio is my favorite guitar. So i figured why not get a backup to it! I also have a 80 Destroyer the early 80's late 70's ibanez's before they introduced the Sabre and RG are just killer guitars for the money!

so i decided that since i still have money left over from my bonus, i should pick up an amp that's easier to transport and more dependable than my Laney which has been having what i think are tube problems. i found a Vox AC15 on the Guitar Center site and am having it sent to the GC in Richmond, where i'll pick it up. this one has a Celestion greenback, which is my favorite speaker and should give the amp a nice smooth response. and it's a 12" as well, which is my preferred size. i'm really looking forward to not worrying about my amp, and not having to carry a 60-pound Laney amp back and forth to the car. the AC15 is only 48 lb.

I know this isn’t the place for it, but what’s the benefit of shipping to a local GC as opposed to your home? Safety issues with packages being left at home? It’s not cheaper, at least I don’t think it is...maybe I’m wrong

It used to be free to ship items between stores, but hasn't been for a few years now. Not much point anymore unless you live in a place where packages might get lifted or want to hide the purchase from your wife (which, having worked in guitar stores for years, is a real thing).

So when you go to pick it up you don't have to drive back if it's all jacked up or not what you expected

the shipping was $28 for a package of ~50 lb., which i'm pretty sure is lower than UPS would charge the typical punter. i was surprised by the shipping charge, but i didn't want to look any more...it was difficult enough to find an AC15 in good condition at a reasonable price from a seller who would even ship. all the decently priced ones in good shape on Reverb (where the prices were lower than eBay) were local pickup only. this one is purportedly in "Excellent" condition and it was only $379 plus tax and shipping. i also went out of my way to find one with the Celestion speaker, not only because the greenbacks are my favorite but also because the Vox speaker in some AC15s is by reputation rather ice-picky, which is the exact opposite of what i'm looking for.
