Is it worthy of the hype? It seems like an insanely powerful and versatile unit, but it's also quite expensive.

I had a personal triumph today, took a second stab at fixing a cold solder joint on my Shuttle Control that has caused the LED display to be missing a bar. Got it! Fucking SMD is bullshit, how do you guys do it? Magnifying glass and tiny solder?
BECAUSE COLORS MATTER. AESTHETICS MATTERRRRRRRRR.

yay on the soldering!

It's working just fine now and damn is it super fun to create melodies with. While 6hp is small it's definitely still possible to get a little bit of playing in on the keyboard. I need more clockable modulation sources pronto.
yay soldering PART TWO!

nurp. they don't care. my grey (love that grrL so damn much) monster bastard attacks cables when i'm trying to patch some times. just..... sits there and stares. then BITES.

also, trying to a kinda guitar'ish thing with Rings and this happened.

....... do i post too many little vidjas? don't want to be annoying. just having a BLAST. but if i'm clogging shizz up, pleaaaase tell me. i'll cut back.

It’s pretty deep as things stand today and it should keep getting more features for a long time to come. The user community has come up with a few great ‘apps’ for it, or you can roll your own if you have some time to invest. I mostly use it as a drum rompler, meaning I under-utilize it, but on the other hand it’s good enough for my purposes to keep me away from buying any dedicated drum modules. I also use It for live or prepared granular sample mangling, it’s pretty good at this too. And then I sometimes use it as a delay/looper (and as of today’s firmware I’ll probably use the freeverb on it a lot too.)

I think the really amazing uses will come from the power users (if they share them), but I never feel intimidated by trying to get it to do what I want it to do. Once you get the hang of the interface it’s very fluid.

having done absolutely no research on it ever, because it seemed like a micro computer in a module, how many apps can it run at once? can you have a drum module and a reverb unit and a Na'avi Translator App running at the same time?

It depends on the cpu load of the app, the convolution reverb (different than the new cpu lightweight freeverb) can max out with just one instance of it. As a big generalization though let’s say it can handle doing 1-4 completely different things at once.

Long answer: Very yes.

I have one but have not used it enough to speak to it. Although I just downloaded the new firmware and plan on diving into the huge YouTube series about every feature. I've put it off more than any other module because of the learning curve and menu diving but lately i've been taking one module at a time and learning everything I can about it and using it in every patch I make till i'm comfortable and moving on to the next one since I got such a large system right off the bat. Still happy I did it that way because I can try the modules i want to try at my convenience and they're already here when i'm ready. It's actually been really cool to decide which I want to focus on based on what i want to create or just in the mood for. I know the sentiment seems to be start small and grow from there but this method has been a ton of fun for me and in a way i start small in only utilizing specific modules that i've really spent time learning before moving to the next one except for immediate features on others that are obvious......... anyways.... way off topic. Yes, I have one.

i feel you Ruineds. lol. i did NOT jump in as butt nekid let's just RAPE THE POND as you did, but. if i could afford to. probaballllllly would have. it's helped me having a bunch of different pieces to bang off of each other and see what they do.

also, Malekko Quad Gate Delay ordered from PCA. who. take forever to ship. but should be FUN.

Ooooo that's awesome, the different modes on the quad gate delay look super fun for creating patterns.

Dibz on the flip?

& No you don't post videos too much. It's great to see you excited about stuff :)

I never really looked to deep into the ER-301. Pam's is about as much menu I can handle at this point. I really didn't want any menus when I started. I wanted everything to be as quick as possible. Considering I'm still learning a lot of basics.

I like the vids Bendski.

Thanks for the info peeps. It's helpful; I'm still interested in it but idk if I have the space for another menu-divey module. Eloquencer is so powerful but I wish it had just a -little- faster workflow.

It's also worth noting that a major update came out for the ER-301 yesterday. Gonna update tonight and have some fun.
