that's a good question, and I'm not sure. maybe someone else will jump in.

but, this is similar to something I was looking into...can I take my bass VI and restring it to be a baritone? apparently yes, IF, not sure how big that if is, but, IF, you can find strings long enough for the scale length in the gauges you need then yes. Or, IF you can find a string manufacturer who will make sets for you. Cause I don't know where to find these strings and neither did anyone where i was just poking around out of curiosity.

So, for the baritone i would think it's possible IF you can find strings long enough to fit the scale length. For best results I'd probably contact a string manufacturer, hand made strings? and see if they would make you a set in the scale length of the baritone, in the gauges you want....so then what gauges do we want?

I guess I've just got more questions than answers, sorry. :?:

i don't know if you like songs ohia/magnolia electric company, but this whole album was recorded with baritone instead of guitar. here's a good ex. its a vintage silvertone baritone mostly(all?) clean, but you can hear the depth and dimension of the instrument......i know you know what one sounds like, just sharin if you're interested. great band by the way, he was one of the great singer/songwriters that died too soon.

We have a huge baritone/bass VI thread that addresses a lot of your questions.

You are kind'a right.. if you can find string long enough to fit on a fender Bass VI with that extra length to the trem then it will work.. or you could get a light bass VI set like the one d'addario makes and just tune it up.. or take off the lowest string and use some other high string or something. Other bass VIs though that have a hardtail bridge there is no issue at all, and some bari's like dano use the same string lengh anyway on both.

Thanks! I don't really have any reason to tune my bass VI like a baritone as I've already got a couple baritone, but that's good info to have. Thanks again :thumb:

Only if you wanted the features of a bass VI in a bari [pickups, trem act] :idk:

I poked around and listened to the soundcloud stuff. Been outrageously busy and broke at the moment, so I'm trying not to spend too much time on label sites.

Anyway, enjoy the jams. I'll dig around for their S/T CD-R and PM it to you, too.
