My guitar is almost always tuned to either CGDGBD, EFCGCF or double drop D. Standard tuning is for racists.

Alternate tunings can be tricky, but if you fiddle around with them long enough you get used to them AND you come up with cool shit.

that is a really intriguing tuning...it has the same kind of internal logic as DADGAD--which is my favorite because of all the hammer-on/pull-off chord inversions you can do with that major 2d on the 2/3 strings--but voices as a major 7th chord. it looks like it would be a little dense to play leads on the 2/3/4 strings with those close intervals, though?

Ah, while we're on the topic of alternate tunings..I don't use these on the electric, but when I play acoustic, I've experimented with these over the last few years

i want to try all of these. particularly the fourth.

i broke my tuner. i liberated one from school, but it's not one of those cool chromatic ones. it just shows the notes in standard tuning only  guess i'mma be tuning by ear.

I dont use a chromatic tuner either..but all of those tunings have atleast one string that stays in standard tuning, so you can get that one tuned, then use it to get the others in tune relative to it.. :)*

The band I'm playing drums for just had our first practice with more than just me and the guitarist(still missing a guitarist, but we had bass). In a noisy experiment, the guitarist went all out of tune. She tuned back up based on her own strings and asked me if it sounded right. I said, "Yeah, it sounds in tune with itself, but are you in tune with *bassist*?" They didn't know what I was talking about.

It's not going to be very good. The guitarist/singer and bassist are way too good of friends so they have no problem just dicking around and not listening to what the other one is playing. They also don't know the names of notes or anything other than power chords. I'm hoping our lead guitarist will be able to pull things together, but he hasn't been able to make it to a single practice yet :idk:

This is what I get for hanging around with high school kids :picard:
