So very true. This layout was all about looking cool. It was so tight trying to get the output jack in around the pot.

I just finished this one up last night.

The short story: It is a tribute to my cat, who we had put down in December after 16 years. My brother originally adopted him, and named him Jerry Garcia. Our vet sent us a card, and inside the card was an inking of Jerry's paw. I decided to commemorate Jerry by building a special pedal with an etch of his pawprint. The cat's name was Jerry Garcia, so I didn't have much of a choice but to build a Mu-tron III, something I have wanted to do since I first started building pedals back in 2009.

I present to you, the MEOW-TRON:




I have only had a little while to test it out, but it sounds great. I think I am going to polish the enclosure, and then flood the etched areas with black paint to add more contrast. For now, though, it is good enough to use.

it's working! video may take a couple weeks though, since I want to tweak the firmware first. still haven't programmed tap tempo, proper debounce on the footswitches, and a few extras like programming settings while holding down the footswitches on powerup.

Kind of off topic since it isn't finished yet...I have been interested in building a few pedals for awhile and have been inspired by several pedals on this forum, but I am always a bit intimidated at the electronics aspect. To be perfectly honest, the electronics aspect isn't really my thing, BUT I LOVE the graphic design component of pedals. I was curious if anyone would be interested in a labor trade? Enclosures for populated boards? I figure while the graphic art is what I like, others probably hate that part, and I see that several posting here just don't put designs on their pedals...so...I thought with the right person it may be a win-win for both parties

I just finished this enclosure for a multiplex...but I have other designs for a couple other pedals as well. And I am open to generating new designs, adding color (I tend to just like black and aluminum for my own) or modding them to suit you. I tend to like a more vintage-y, low-fi, grungy, somewhat distressed looking designs (but can make pretty stuff too). The enclosures I make are etched and painted. I figured maybe someone may be interested and we could work out a couple trades. You make two boards, I make two enclosures, and we swap so we each get a completed pedal. I would include all the external pedal parts with the enclosure (knobs, etc, for which the design is generated for). If someone at be interested in working something out message me . If this is the wrong place for this I can delete the post...

Dude, it looks awesome. I have a similar style and always loved how Death by Audio pedals looked. When I started making pedals I was inspired by the DBA look and the look of older vintage pedals. While I wanted to make myself cool looking pedals I was also equally interested in building circuits. Lately, my new job has sucked away all my pedal time. I probably do pedal work 1 day a week now for a few hours. But I still want to put out some small batches of things and after being on the computer all day at the real job I'm too burnt on working in photoshop during my few hours of free time everyday. I may get in touch as it would be great to have someone help me with some graphic ideas as I love soldering boards more. For me its hard to get into that head space of graphic design these days more than ever. Its always is bad except for those few nights that come around and I just sit and do it. I think the idea of doing it is worse than actually doing it. I'm just lazy sometimes so it would be great to do a back and forth.
