I used to have a tape echo, and it was amazing, but I couldn't justify keeping it.

I got it from the college I go to, otherwise I wouldn't even dream of having one. They had it and a bunch of other vintage shit just lying around in storage collecting dust, and I was able to rescue it (and a moog Taurus. the minimoog was toast).

true story

Ran down the stairs to tell her that dinner was ready and didn't realize she was in the hot tub neked. Turn the corner and promptly head right back up the stairs. Old boobs are ruined for me me forever.

It really depends on what your looking for. Another student here has a 2k bass that sounds absolutely tits for pizz and jazz stuff. It took about a year and a half for it to really shine through though. My friend who's just a poor rasta got his for $1500 and I give it about a year or so for the wood to age and then it'll sound pretty damn good for a pizz wacker.

Mine was 3k even, but its from 1910 and looks worse than a 80 year old Amsterdam hooker on a good day. It needs serious restoration work, but I can't afford it. It sounds great for arco (especially faster mid range passages), but is too bright for solo work, and not quite big enough for that low end rumble. It works for what I need and has improved my technique and intonation so much its unbelievable. I absolutely enjoy the hell out of playing in my local symphony, and playing in the wind ensemble is super fun as well. I'm moving into jazz right now, and I've already gotten the approval of my fretless bass. Next up is the DB.

If I were to get a new bass (if I had the money) I would definitely look for a deep and smooth arco bass, and just keep mine for pizz. It's not loud, but the pickup solves things for jazz and wind ensemble. I'm not miking it yet, so tone quality isn't to important for my pizz work. I do wish it was way smoother up top for solo pieces, but it works right now.

You start moving into the really expensive basses and they practically play themselves though. :(

lol. that's what i'd need then. a BD that plays itself. i'm a hack on electric bass, don't think i'd suddenly manifest giant mashig skeelz on the DB.

Yeah... Some day I would love a "good bass..." never going to happen though... but the couple I have gotten to play    still I have your friends beat, my bass was $1100 with bag, bow and stand :thumb: It'd been pretty heavily modded at this point but the thing slays vintage Kays and low end carved basses  Once when I took it to Hammond Ashley for work when I got my bass back the Dude just shook head and said "that bass should not sound that good" took like a year and a half looking all over the Bay area to find it though

^ Dude I've seen/heard some older kays and even englehardts that sounded like sexy bacon. Walk up and ask em where they got it, and the answer is almost always "I've had it for 40+ years and just made it sound that way over time". sonofa I need to go practice...

I might buy this.

http://spokane.craigslist.org/msg/2588909131.html

Ads over a month old so it may be sold,...but I'mma have a look around the pawnshops and second hand stores first.

I'm more of a Tele kinda guy when it comes to guitars. I'm picky about mah strats but that has what I'm looking for (even though it's a kit build). Maple Neck,...S/S/S pup configuration Sunbursty.

Tits
