Been on a surrious The Mamas and the Papas kick lately. They were SOOOOOOO fucking good, and this is coming from someone who typically doesn't give a shit about vocal harmonies. The Beach Boys wish they could have been anywhere close to this awesome. Their instrumentals are actually interesting and use an enormous variety of intersecting rhythms. Their vocal phrasing has such a subtle swagger that never ceases to amaze me. And Mama Cass was incredible, easily one of the best singers ever, like Freddie Mercury is one of the few artists who was on that level (he seems to be a universally accepted standard of excellence, and deservedly so).
