no no no. i got over that whole Pc vs Mac silliness yeaaaaaars ago. i grew up on homebuilt dos systems, had the og mac up to the mag gs in elementary school, geeked out on pc's and linux systems since.
i'm with you. it's really their crossover products (i/pod/phone/pad) that annoy me. and the way they try to drive up the prices.
but whatevah. if people want to spend less for more on a mobile device that's their choice.

It's cool. My post was more of a general observation of the whole rather than addressing specifics in this thread. I just like to say things in here, it feels safe, like a warm vagina. A warm, waffly vagina...
I actually wish the price of all consumer goods would go up. A lot. We already pay stupid huge amounts of ducats for gas, health care, and food, so if cheap stupid crap were more expensive we'd be less likely to remain mindless consumers, and actually pick and choose things we need carefully, rather than just blowing every last dollar on piles upon piles of needless shite. Or not, I dunno. Maybe I'm just mad at numbers today.

well SOMETIMES the price is BS, but heres the facts: brand new iPhone 4S 32GB compared to the Droid Bionic are pretty much identical aside from full retail (which no one ever pays,). they both cost three hundo, they both have 32GB total storage.
hell, lets compare the Bionic to the regular iPhone 4. with the iPhone 4 you save $100 and only have 3 megapixels knocked off your cameraphone.
though for PCs theres still a difference of say a hundo or so and maybe like 250-500GB of storage you'd never reach anyway (or buy an external), and amounts of RAM that really only matter if you're doing video editing or photoshop, and even then (as someone with a lot of experience in both) what are the chances you're running anything more than photoshop or the video program? most people have a habit of only running that program if they're using it for a long-ass time.
so in a sense, its like Apple is kinda like Gibson, except the gap between prices and product quality is usually justafiably slim.
i mean, i doubt anyone would be complaining if they had this:

There are definitely pros and cons to each.
iOS is more stable and streamlined and more resistant to virus attacks but I don't like that there is no support for older machines.
Windows is more customizable and upgradeable but the BIOS is a bit dated and clunky (an issue that arises from MS' needing to support OSes dating back to the days of XP?). Windows SxS is a bit clunky too (welcome to DLL Hell).
That said,...you are right,...I'd love to have that iMac and the price is only about 50 bucks more then I paid for my laptop.
In other computer news,...my wife has the opportunity to buy her work machine as they are cycling to new machines. The price is only going to be the cost of reformatting the machine from their IT contractor. We will get the tower and flat screen monitor (and I have a mouse and keyboard already). I'm definitely going to be turning that into our media and light gaming computer (I'm not an online player,...just interested in games like the Dirt Series and what have you,...still wanting a PS3 solely for GT5 and NHL12) with upgraded hard drive and video card (hoping that I can get something that will support the latest DirectX),...and if it doesn't have a wireless card I'll install one. Then I'm gonna reformat and turn this laptop into a glorified netbook for interwebs and limited music player.
I also finally picked up a rectified 1TB external hard drive so that I can back up music and pics (actually deleted about 117 gigs of torrented music off my laptop,...two years of pirating and I had about 40 gigs out of 250 gigs of memory left).
Since my wife and I both have iPods,...I'll have to garner an understanding of iTunes,...but from what I can gather,....iTunes doesn't create a second file for the library but rather locates the file and plays it. Since shit has been moved around and uploaders suck at ID3 tagging it's gonna be a bitch to reload and reorginize my iTunes library but getting this laptop back down to barebones (not to mention backing up all that shit and pics before reformatting); it will be worth it.

Depends on what it's used for. As nice as it is, that machine would not be my first choice given the amount of gaming-related stuff I need to do. And given that I build my own systems, there are usually enough spare parts laying around to be able to slap together an additional system for less than the purchase price of the Mac, so that throws out the 2nd-system-cheap'ish argument.

only for a highly specific segment of the PC market, that is ironically oversaturated with overpriced "performance" PCs as is. whats your point?

Man, I don't know what price lists you dooders are looking at, but the last time I needed a new laptop, the shittiest Mac was like twice the fucking price of the Dell I ended up buying. I have no real problem at all with Mac, my best buddy has one and I've played around a ton with it. But for that kind of price difference, no fucking thank you.
I do have an iPhone, and it's just alright. I do wish more of it was customizable. That's probably why I'll end up going to a non iPhone next upgrade.

The anti-Apple cult is just as ridiculous as the "Apple cult" they claim to hate so much. There is so much wrong with what you just wrote, I'm not sure where to start.

i always wonder "um... what customizability are you talking about" as it always seems to be a sorta... nebulous thing.
and whats funny is that for the longest time, Apple would give free updates, and everything was backwards compatible.
