Ladik loots is SOLID.

Dark Barn Storms That Rain Yet Stay Dry - gotcha! i'm being a git anyways. mainly wanted to use it into the Harmonaig annbnnd she sends out gates. so. yeah. DURP. but thanks!

have a Taiko incoming and wannnnnt to order a Sapel, but have to not dip into money to cover the Swarm KS, which ends the 7th.

kinda doesna matter if i order now or in a bit. only Perfect Circuit has the Sapel in the US i think, and they're in Cali so Black Friday deals don't help. i always use a 10% off code when ordering from them to cover tax.

fucking tax.

I mean if you want to save a sizeable amount of money, just get Doepfer A-149-1 and a Quantum Rainbow and you have the Sapel but you save space and like $100-200.

murrrrrrrr but that would only be like a hundy fifty cheaper and just 2 hp smaller? and wouldn't that be a fair bit less functionality?

lol. i LIKE the design of the Sapel a LOT. beyond being pretty as all the butts, the layout and double sided'ness of it just makes sense to my brain meats.

plus. you know. need black module(s) for the spot i have open.

Wogglebug is cool but man.... it's..... just way more FASTY FAST FAST FAST bananas than i want from my random voltages.

Detroit Modular put Tetrapads on preorder and their holiday code works for it too. Just sayin.

Up til now I’ve always used attenuation and offset and quantizers to get my random to sit where I want it, hadn’t ever really considered anything like the Sapel or A-149-1 with their nifty distribution controls. Now after watching some video I think I really need one... will probably seek out the Doepfer just to save some dough. Besides these two and the Sputnik West Coast Random Source, anything else I should look at?

Took the plunge with a few modules and a skiff. The SMR is really incredible so far, I can't get enough of it. Still waiting for my Function to arrive so I have some more modulation options, but the 0-Coast is subbing in ok for now. The Cursus Iteritas also has some super fun options and sounds great. Modulating fold is tasty.

How long did you have the 0-Coast? Was it just an appetizer? Thought about picking one up on several occasions, but then I always feel like it is just pointing me to a full system instead of sticking to a tabletop setup.

It took me two months to go from 0-coast to buying my first modules (Rings and Disting) and about another 4 months after that to have enough modules to not need the 0-coast for much.

I never have the Wogglebug dialed up fast, much prefer the slow & mid-paced stuff from it. Always finding new uses for it too, and don't really have any regular uses, besides the unstable clock as master. It's like it's always useful, but rarely in the same way twice.
The oscillators are just irritating enough to be a pet project/ongoing obsession. They force you to find ways to get new, good sounds out of them, through regular experimentation. Like a sort of subliminal educational tool/child development toy.
Fucking Sapel, oof. Definitely the big black caddy of randoms.

Those are the ones I think of for Buchla style random, and the DIY option is the Nonlinearcircuits 8-Bit Cypher.

For random outside the norm, you have the Wogglebug, SSF Ultra Random Analog, like 700 DIY NLC Modules (dude loves the chaos), and I'm sure much much more.

Didn't get as much time over the holidays as I wanted to play with my toys. Trying to make the IFM stuff get crazy. Going to print out the manuals at work today. I didn't totally expect it to be instant Gnarlytown, but I kind of did. haha.

I have a Tektronix 475 on the way. I won it on ebay pretty cheap on Turkey day.

Totally. I believe I got mine in late summer and now am about to sell it because I've gotten enough modules to move on. It's p much the tastiest little extra potent crack rock nugget of gateway drugs. In fact, they should just rent 0-Coasts instead of selling them.

I dunno I got mine after I started my skiff and find it amazingly complimentary. I get why people would flip it if they started with it though.
