Agreed. Tascam grit is fantastic.

Here is a recording from 1991 where I was trying to write a song by just working something out after hitting "record":

And here is a recording from 2014 of the same song, but with more of the sections worked out, but with that magic "Tascam grit":

Thermae arrived today, so I took one Beebo off and added the Thermae and Blooper for maximum bliss.

sexy bits y'all.

have an ED Sunn Life v3 on the way, was thinking about putting some stuff in a row for bass nooblins.

question - what's the new hawtness in pedalboards? i have a few but was curious if there were any innovations in the last 7 or so years?

doubt i will ever gig out again, just want a neat, pretty one for jamming at home, room for mebbe 6 or 8 or so pedals.

Bendo

AFAIK nothing much has changed - Mono makes some decent boards but you want the fancy side jacks a bunch of people make them - (blackbird pedal boards) - if you have some crazy money schimitt array makes really rad stuff ( spendy tho)

I still don't think anything beats Pedaltrain. I've got a mono board at home, and it looks sick, but honestly it's not as practical as a pedaltrain. Sometimes you want to put a pedal where a hole is, or the hole doesn't quite sit where the cables go. I dunno how people get them to work perfectly. But still. They look awesome.

ended up ordering one of these buggeriboos -

https://www.etsy.com/listing/1112702308 ... -foxy-lady

, in the 18 x 12.5 inch size. i don't want a ton of room to go ham with pedals, just a little chunka chunka.

murrrrr. also, there's an analog delay i loved, can never remember the nams.white with chunky black knobs? maybe some orange on it? wassat?

GOROOOOOOOOOOOOOTHHHHHHHHHHHUHHHUHUUHHHUHHUHUHH.

The DOD Rubberneck is an ILF fav around here (but dat Zoom MS70CDR) http://www.digitech.com/loopers-delay/D ... rneck.html - there are so many delays out in the market, its hard not to choose just one.

ah yiss. looked it up. looks BALLER.

i might try to hunt down an AD 4096 at some point, but is there a similar analog delay pedal? on the simpler side. goal with this board is very focused boxes, not do it all loots. i mighhhhht have a H90 for that.

edit - i mean. mighhhhht have a Rubberneck on the way to check out.

see? i am SO out of touch with pedals and their pricings. Rubber Bandy Neck looks neat, excited to check that out.

i'm TRYING not to go Old School Pokémon Gotta Catch Them All, because i have such basic nooble around needs now.

but any suggestions on a LPF to look at?

also, need to look at routing. the few times i've recorded bass lately i ran straight into ADAM, ADAM outs to the mixer. records well. i've always put the preamp before efx, not totally sure recording a pedal at the end of the chain would sound as good direct into a USB mixer as the ADAM does. not really set up to mic stuff.

i think it's the pedal pricing that is out of touch tbh. i think the mutron reissue is pretty standard among filters it has cv 3.5mm jacks but no expression.

yeah. i mean, i don't ever begrudge people getting their money, especially smaller builders. charge what the market will bear.

but i've eased out of modular, been mostly buying synths and drum machines. for $700 you can get a decent to great machine, so that feels... unbalanced? as a single effect box price point?

do miss the immediacy of jamming on pedals with an instrument i'm more comfy with, but there's also the modulation gap that's odd to get used to again. with modular, you can modulate ANYTHING with ANYTHING. with synth boxes that have verbose effects sections, you can modulate at least 2 or 3 parameters of an effect with a ton of source options. to go to where it's a pleasant surprise to have one expression jack is... jarring?

apples and or'an'gees though.

didn't really want to get into the TRY EVERYTHING aspect of pedal perusing but. kinda did. have a few extra bits and bobs but ended up with this -

Image

obviouuuuusly really dug on the Bliss pedals i've had. not sold on the Otto, might swap it for a Bitmap and Dusk. Otto is nifty but... lot of space for the main thing i like, the bit crushing. and my little bass noobling yarea -

i... need to learn more about actually playing bass well.
