Here's what I'm using for my sludgy band. It doesn't change which lets me just focus on playing. Surveyor seems like a forever pedal for first here's my clean tone, and can't really go wrong with the Elements.

Will plug the tuner in properly at some point, I need to figure out power supply issues but that's boring stuff

@cbs you recently sold the Clang right? Curious to know how d you rather go for the Surveyor instead of that one for always on clean toanz. I never tried a Surveyor but for a while I have been interested into it for the very same reason (in fact I use the Clang in the same way).
Does the Surveyor retain more mids compared to Clang, which is almost always super scooped?

More mids, still a bit scooped but a nice amount depending on the tone controls, particularly when I'm boosting mids with elements and using a mid-present guitar etc. But also it doesn't have the insane ultra-high end of the Clang/Driving Notion that it turns out destroys my ears and I hate it. Like dog frequencies or something, there's just too much of the really high high end. Sounds nice when recorded and can be EQ'd a bit, but it was irritating to play with. I've got funny ears and my specific other gear setup though so IDK if this is just me.

The Clang has some cool sounds and it does a thing that only it does in my experience, but to me the Surveyor is just perfect, and a much more usable range of sounds for my personal tastes. I can really find a use for this pedal on any settings depending on context. Surveyor is much more "normal" I guess is maybe the summary I don't think they're that directly comparable sonically, other than a vague (driving) notion of clang-y Shellac tones. Side by side they're night and day.

I agree with all this. Driving Notion is fatiguing. Surveyor is a more comforting clang.

Some killer ass boards on this last page! Fun to see some fuzzrocious it feels like ages since i saw someone using them.

That golden guillotine thing sounds like it's pretty sick. Care to chime in more?

Golden Guillotine isn't anything like Surveyor, it's just my favorite amp-style overdrive I've ever tried. Putting it after a reverb, especially the Context, is a fantastic post-rock kind of sound. It's not too middy, not too bright. It's nice to warm things up after a bunch of glitchy digital pedals.
I reject a lot of ODs if they don't sustain the way I like or if the decay is too spiky but I love the decay on GG. I'm no TGP-style tone dentist so I don't know how it does in a white boy blues situation.
I've actually got three of them because they come up cheap and I don't want to be without it.

Ooh sounds nice. I havent verbed into drive in a while even though that is the RV-3 way. Amp style you mean like ocd or is it even ampier? I could use some less bright dirt for attempting to be "tasteful"

This reminds me I've been wondering about a reverb again for this sort of stuff... Ghost echo when I used to have one was ideal for this. What is cool in simple verbs these days?

It may be a good time to get an RV2 cause i feel they are getting more popular. There are tons of new reverbs tho but none really catches my interest. Are holy grails good before dirt? Since they are analog(ish?) Vurbs they may be in the ghost echo ballpark. Idk tho ive never had one. Fuck ive gotta get a holy grail sometime. Bitquest reverb is still king. Almost got an lpx1 cheap and it seem worth the money

In the realm of simple reverbs, the DBA Reverberation Machine is really good before dirt, it has a slight boost of low freqs, especially in the "dark mode" that really makes subsequent dirt crumble. I love Bitquest reverb but the predelay even at the lowest setting sometimes annoys me.

im the opposite and find it a blessing. not having predelay ruins so many reverb pedals for me
