Tom actually posted some stuff on IG very recently (but I know you're not on there much)

Three new Amps In A Boxes from Universal Audio. Fender '65, Vox '63, and Gibson '55. (No Marshall!?)
Stereo. No s/r. They do have presets, don't know how many tho.

Kind of crazy coming on the heels of the Tech 21 announcement yesterday.

Do you mean the new 'Character Plus' series? They're so ugly! And HUGE! https://www.guitarworld.com/news/tech-2 ... acter-plus

In other news the second batch of Too Positive sold out too fast for me to snag one. Still not sure if I really want it, but $100 is a great price for all the stereo routing options so I'll try to be there for future drops.

Those Tech21 pedals look an awful lot like the cheap Valeton multi's

When did the 2nd batch of too positive even go up for sale? I see no sign of an announce and this is the first I'm hearing of it. I'm definitely on the look out after missing the first batch...I think the 2nd batch didn't happen yet.

My bad, I saw it on instagram a couple days ago and went to the site thinking was a new batch  Just didn't notice that the post date was May 11. Was that the actual release date?

Whatever, there will hopefully be 3, 4, 50 batches of this coming out eventually..

Whew, I thought I missed it. The original batch was a week ago and Scott said next batch would be in a few (3 or 4) weeks so I've got my eyes peeled. It was pretty publicly announced last time...I just didn't actually believe that it would release when it was said to be released.

continuing my trend of "ho-hum" responses to the new new hypeness

zero interest in the UA - that company is officially up my nose for some reason, but as for these - why?

for recording, if you want digital amp models, just use a plugin? if you want UA plugins? yeah
but maybe you want to offload some of the processing to ease yer wheezin' lappies CPU?
ok, maybe - but i guess if i wanted that, the latest Antelope Audio interfaces seem more desirable :idk:

so, i mean, maybe you want to take your pedalboard and plug in FOH with no amp involvement at all?
ok, so why use one of these boxes in preference to available modelers that give you a much wider choice of amp models and effects?

i guess it comes down to flavor?
and i don't like the flavor of tan pants?

as for the two notes - the c.a.b. m seems brill to me - i want one
the "La" series preamps seemed quite meh to me tonally
maybe they've upped their game?
but if they've upped their game, why are they still actively hawking the C.A.B. M as part of your ampless solution on the Revolt intro page?
seems like they've limited the IR side of the Revolt, then, no?

and while I am a recent convert to the tube preamp concept for recording purposes, my feeling is that if you're using one (1) preamp tube and touting high gain and metal, you're almost assuredly also utilizing some solid state circuitry to either boost the tube or add additional clipping or both (correct me if i'm wrong about that)
and if that is the case, why wouldn't I just stack my choice of solid state or tube heater in front of the tube preamp to get the exact flavor of high gain i want?
i mean, i guess they've done some filtering and mojo majik to get to their end product, but it better blow me away because now i'm stuck with it....
and going back to their earlier attempt at tube preamps, i'm not sure they're the mojo majik makers i'm looking for

to me it looks like the upcoming new version of the Fryette GPDI/IR should be better in just about every way except one - it'll be twice the price :p

this confuses me, too.
i've been very happy with the C.A.B. M for a while now so I'd be open to anything new they come up with, but what makes that product great is being able to blend multiple third-party impulse responses and add power amp models, powerful EQ, etc.
i'm not seeing any benefit to buying this specifically over any other preamp if i'd still need to pair it with the C.A.B. M for the full experience :idk:

also confused w/r/t UA cos they don't seem to have the connectivity you'd want for an amp-less setup, and it seems needlessly expensive and limiting compared to plugins for studio applications...

sold'd!

also - ty backwardsvoyager for stating succinctly what it took me a half a page of less-than-clear droning to get to....

re: the Donner - idk, which is preferable, YAUS (yet another ulisynth) or a product of an economy that is headed into the crapper b/c of an asinine pandemic response?
i guess when you get right down to it, when you're shopping for sub-$200 analog synths, all that is background noise

Did anyone else notice Red Panda was now at Sweetwater? I was previewing the Memorial weekend sale a few days ago and was stunned to see them in the fold. I would've guessed their output was too modest for the larger retailers. Congrats to the RP team. I hope this means more funds for prototyping additional devices.

(FF to 3:45 to hear ILF receive a shoutout. are we mainstream normies now? :idk: )

20+ mins of RP history and chattuh...
