I wound up buying that book and a book on scales for guitar. The plan is to memorize the scales, try to deliberately play them wrong, but mess up in my trying to play them wrong because I am not a gifted player. That way, no one will have any idea what the scale is. It helps I don't tune my instruments properly. It's like that footnote in INFINITE JEST with James Orin's filmography "He mistakenly mistakes the mistake". Post-Mistake-Core will be my new tag. That and Post-Crust-Gaze.

Do you listen to Kevin Drumm? 1. I think you would enjoy 2. That was my introduction to the concept of a 'prepared guitar' (even though his discography goes well beyond that AND I strongly prefer his material that is NOT rooted in that).
