Thanks for all the suggestions! Sounds like i have some listening to do. I really want to move is into less generic territory, and it seems judicious use of uncommon effects can help with that. Just need to figure out how.

What's the trick for making more interesting effects work in heavier music? In the practice spot I have a pile of reverbs and delays and a couple other ones and inevitably I end up just slamming along with a chain of tuner>boost>fuzz>distortion>overdrive. I could even do without some of that, but I like options and the gain on my amp is lame so I need the pedals to do all the heavy lifting. We're doing a sort of hardcore punk, sort of powerviolence thing, but I still think there should be room for something. Especially delay.

Fender American Nitro Standard Strat. Played one in guitar center. I hate traditional strats, but damned if that wasn't a great feeling guitar even with a shitty gc setup

thanks for the picks recommendations
I've been using the Dunlop Gator Grips 1.5, the green ones with the gator. I like the texture, but I've been trying the Tortex sharp 1.0s and those feel nice as well

maybe a bit better actually, I might want to try something closer to the 1mm. Fender heavys are pretty good actually

I might want something thinner because I could use some brighter attack with the flats
I hate the nylons btw

can't get on those...
I remember liking Ultex picks, but I went through those pretty quickly on guitar, so i don't know...
or maybe I'll start just... throwing out the Gators when they get too round. I probably shoudl start with the discipline first...

That's what I use most of the time, they last for years on flats

Fender heavy's you tend to break off the tip a lot.
I'm getting ready to buy a bunch of odd picks like stone and bone and some other stuff to see how they effect sonic textures on acoustic instruments for recording… maybe I'll do a thread on it for fun

I'm feeling some kind of angsty way. Bad GAS and cramped.
NO MORE BUYING. ENOUGH ALREADY.
So much stuff I'm not using, and cant get into...parts and restoration projects.
Gotta do some spring cleaning and get shit tf outta here.

Yeah Chanks, saw the demo. But tbh I can't hear the difference yet between that and the noise box, so my gas got put on hold until a new demo comes out.

This is tight
As far as using effects in heavier music, I like using my BF2 set as a comb filter for some weird tonality, super slow phaser sweeps, using delay in a post rock manner when tremolo picking, and a ring mod mixed kinda low for slow doomy parts to add some general weirdness to my tone. Especially if after fuzz in the chain.

I've heard a lot of people say that the PS-2 is pretty glitchy as far as tracking goes (with feedback and oscillation), but so far mine is following everything pretty damn close to perfect. What kind of settings should I throw at this thing to make it fuck up?

I thought it did alright too. Try changing the incoming volume, envelope swells, and discordant (like voivod) signals into it .

yo does anyone have one of those new Boss DM-2w waza craft pedals?
i wanna know whether when you have something plugged into the 'direct' output the 'effect' output produces a fully wet signal or if its still the same wet+dry combination
looking for a BBD delay with CV over rate for sequencing that can go 100% wet basically and that one seems really nice
