So I finally got a decent offer for my bass, but it's a damn unlined fretless! LOL! I don't know if I'm smart enough to play one of those! Absolutely beautiful bass though! Check the pics out!

Unlined or fretted! I hate lined fretless.

I constantly play out of tune with lines, but without I'm fine. :idk:

So the issue here is whether or not I could hang with a fretless bass. I feel like if I do a trade and then realize I can't do it, I'm going to be kicking myself. I have been playing bass for 15 years now, but that doesn't me I'm an expert. Sigh...what to do, what to do.

if it has position dots im sure you will be fine. It will take some practice but if you have been playing a while its easier than you think. do you watch your fret board when you play? if not than im sure you will have no problems.

I would forget the trade. Keep the EBMM for the time being. If you think you may be into a fretless but are unsure that you'd take to it;....go get a cheapo fretless bass to try it out,...then; if you are into it, maybe see if that offer is still on the table.

Yeah, fretless is pretty different, if you end up not liking fretless, you're boned.

i...... kinda....... hate playing fretlesseseses. they're so weird about any technique except for fingering. the difference in right hand (and left when tapping i guess) stuff bothered me WAY more than fretting correctly with the left hand.

yeah I had no problem playing mine but in the end I didnt like it.
I thought you were hard set on a frettless.
I thought the ? was lines or no

To be honest I'm not really hard set on anything. I like playing 4's, 5's, I owned a fretless very briefly, had no major issues, but it was lined. I've played 4 string fretted forever though. I don't know if I could get rid of my baby for it though, but will it make me a better more versatile bassist? That's what I want. To branch out a bit. I want a good 5 string that doesn't buzz like fucking crazy and is damn near impossible to have adjusted...fucking Jackson. This would be an upgrade a bit for me as the Modulus is worth more technically. I could always flip it. Dude is hella nice and totally willing to let me think on it. Plus look at that fucking thing. God it's sexy. In the end, I'll probably just break down and spend a grand to get a nice 5...we all know that...I think...

Fretless is a whole other animal. What is your EBMM? Modulii are REALLY nice basses but they are different.

I love fretless but it is such a different beast. My approach is completely different between them and fretted, even if I'm playing the same god damn lines. :idk:
