Re: Infanem: Compact Faye Sing
Need to figure out a way to make room on my board for one of these...
Loved my original Faye Sing, no other phaser I've played comes close to it.

^ I think you might be right, Wes. Really loving this so far. All the phasers I've ever had (Boss, Small Stone and Phase 90 variations) were never airy/spacey enough for me, but the Faye Sing is so musical it's blowing my mind. Really like the way it responds to picking dynamics.
Here's another clip with eight stages of modulation, this time recorded with a clean AV 65 Jazzmaster (both pups). Settings were like this:

when you have the mix at maximum, so its just the vib signal, does the volume match the bypass signal?
and i guess the the same when set at minimum mix, does the volume match the bypass?

Yeah, it does in both cases. And you can use the Boost knob to tweak to taste, which is nice.Doctor X wrote:when you have the mix at maximum, so its just the vib signal, does the volume match the bypass signal?

I'm surprised, too, man!univalve wrote:Why the fuck has the strayan his before me?!
Sometimes mail from the West Coast of the US (LA) gets here really quick. Then again, sometimes it's slow as fuck. Got lucky this time.

No worries, just wondering. I have to wait, once it is here, an additional week because of the customs...

Man... I've been in the market for a new vibe or phaser lately. Seen this thread going on, but was all like nah too expensive. But I finally sold some shit, and this is suddenly an option. Is it worth it? Is this the phaser to rule them all? Is it... wizardy?

^ Yeah, it's worth it. For what it can do, I think it's really reasonably priced. I can't think of a reason you shouldn't buy one. And it is definitely wizardy.
I was a little intimidated when I first started experimenting with mine, largely because I'd only ever used one- or two-knob phasers before. But the controls are really intuitive once you get the hang of it and it's very easy to get exactly the sound you want.
One other cool feature I discovered (and would have discovered a lot earlier if I'd read all the instructions at the Infanem site) is that if you turn the Lower Sweep Limit knob full counter-clockwise you then get a fixed or "parked" phase with the Upper Sweep Limit Knob. There's no "wobble" or wave in the modulation that way, so it sounds kinda like a filter - great with fuzz. And with a CV pedal in the bottom plug you can then sweep the range of the fixed phase.
Here's a demo of the fixed phase (with the CV pedal), going for the Los Dug Dugs 70s fuzz sound. Fuzz is a Basic Audio Fuzz Mutant (Os Mutantes fuzz) with a Stone Deaf PDF-1 taking out just a touch of the mids. Guitar is a Firebird V, amp is a Ceriatone 5E7 Bandmaster.

Dude, you've posted some awesome clips. I'm nearly sold. Have to spend the day doing some serious thinking about this, but I have a feeling I might order it come evening. It has the perfect size and layout for my board as well. It's like it was made for me.
