@cbs That's a serious amount of dirt, and no dirt is too much!
The Elements finish is beyond gorgeous.
@theactionindex: that Basic audio is trippy af. Love it.
What's on top right?
@Paul: double ZOIA + double POLY combo makes my brain go in full option paralysis even just looking at the picture.

But it's fun to do the gear nerd thing as we all know.
You get a sideways picture cos meh can't be bothered to fix
Bottom row, yellow knobs...that's some sort of 250/dist+ overdrive, right? Been wanting to add something like that my arsenal, cant seem to come up with anything that improves on the og pedal (tone control, more vol/gain,...) without going overboard into unobtainium territory :/

Yeah Salt Box made by drodriguez. Is some sort of variant of the 250, with a Kill Kill Filter on the second switch.
Looked at the Kowloon Walled Bunny? That's a nice one I've tried. Other than that the Gray Channel looks cool though I haven't personally tried one. But I doubt you could go wrong with the DOD reissue.

As stated, this did not stand the test of time, as it turns out.
On 250s, the DOD reissue is really good in front of a nice amp. It will be much higher gain than the KWB+ (which is also technically an MXR D+, not a 250, but they're very similar circuits anyway) and a bit higher gain/harsher highs than the Salt Box (which is to original/grey 250 spec). Not as low-end friendly as either.

Yeah, I came across the KWB shortly after googling "Kowloon Walled City pedalboard"
Not exactly a cheap option that's easily available on the used market in Europe though.
An hour or so further into the rabbit hole, I came across the Salt Box.
I'm curious what a 250 would do for my current rig, but I don't know about the dod reissue. I'd rather spend $10 more on a version with a toine control, if such a thing exist. Doesn't seem like a lot to ask, right?

The gray channel takes up a lot of space for a 250 clone with no tone control, and it costs way more than what I wanna spend on something like a no frills low gain od.

I thought they started making the KWB again recently - dos has one!

maybe it was a limited run cos google isn't showing it for me right now.
The salt box doesn't have a tone knob though

the kill kill filter exists, sure, but it is INTENSE and makes it a very different pedal. I do not think a tone knob is needed with this circuit

Yeah, even if they're being made again, the shipping and customs and taxes would ruin the deal for us Eurotopians.
I read everywhere that the 250 is all treble and no lows when the gain's dimed. Maybe just the nature of the beast

They can be found cheap enough though, might as well find out myself.

dos lives in the UK and got one OK
Granted I only have a salt box not another variant (I believe there are several tweaks) but I find it's nicely balanced in frequencies across the gain range. I'm sure different variants act different, plus your gear is a factor, but like you say you can get one cheap.

I for one have never succeeded in buying a pedal while living in Europe.
I mostly post stock photos and photoshop them to make them look like a pedalboard.

I'm 100% sure that having 100 kilos of pure cuban cocaine delivered to my door is easier than buying a pedal from the US
