whenever it's over 72º i want to kill myself. all my genetics are from places where it's cool and cloudy: the Bavarian Alps, the Baltic Coast, England, and Scotland. i should be shivering in a hovel somewhere in Iceland under a wooly sweater. Holland is the only place i've ever been where the sunlight doesn't hurt my eyes.

YES!! I know exactly what you mean. Actually, I'm half Dutch, so maybe I should visit The Netherlands...

seriously, if you draw a line around the globe from the places my people come from, you wind up way the fuck up in the middle of Hudson Bay. i should be living in freaking Labrador.
that's one reason i'd really like to move back to San Francisco. even when it gets hot in the summertime, a cool ocean breeze to bring temperatures down to the tolerable range is never more than a few hours away. and the fog

Man that seems warm to me. I'm more in the 70F range, but... For me, it really depends on the outside temp as well.

i'd have to heat my place to get it to 77º 3/4 of the year. even in the summertime it usually goes down below 60 at night because i'm 5 miles from the sea and surrounded by tall trees, so even when it gets hot the house stays cool most of the day.

I've been thinking about escaping to Canada, I can't take the summers here in Kansas. I'd be content if outside temps never went above 60-65.

You should move here!
100% humidity all day erry day in the summer!
97% humidity! Right now! Good times!
It really blows during the daytime, but I love warm nights, at least until I try to sleep. Sleeping cold is infinitely better than sleeping hot.

I really enjoy ease dropping. Today I listened in on a conversation between the clerk at the record store I was at and this crazy older dude, not mentally ill, just, not your typical old guy. He probably said "fuck" more in that conversation than I have in the last week.

Where is that? Luckily only 65% for here right now, usually quite a bit higher.

It's a fairly small apartment with ceiling fans, so it stays pretty cool at that setting. Especially when sitting on the couch.

I kinda don't like hot weather. I kinda miss disturbingly cold, mentally insufferable winters. Something about more dark than sun and an excuse to be mentally unstable (well I will be anyway) is downright lovely.

Chicago is right off Lake Michigan with its infamous Northeast winds (known colloquially as "The Hawk" in blues argot) sweeping in off Lakes Michigan and Superior across five hundred miles of fucking ice all the way from Canadia. it gets so cold there in winter that i once met a former Muscovite at a tram stop in San Francisco who said winters in Chicago were worse than those in Moscow. growing up there gave me a Stalingrad survivors' terror of subzero temperatures, and by "subzero" i mean so cold that the Celsius and Fahrenheit scales converge. i believe the coldest i ever saw it in Chi-town was -28ºF, and that's just wrong.
still there are things about winter i miss--i was just talking about this with my friend on the phone last night--particularly going out driving when there's about six inches of new snow and everyone's terrified to go out. if you know how to handle the conditions and have decent tires you can cruise for hours through the empty streets, silent but for the occasional crunch of snow under your wheels. everything's white and new, with all the weariness, dirt, and tears covered with powdered sugar from above.

So I watched this NIN doc... mainly because it was suppose to be about industrial music and for the fist 20 min it was... and was not totally horrid but by the end it really managed to turn a disinterest in NIN to a dislike...

The Downward Spiral is a great album. I'm pretty ignorant about NIN other than that and a couple of earlier albums...
