sigh. i miss having a band. well, sorta. it had turned to an oppressive shit fuck of messy controlling bullshit.... but i still enjoyed some of the music and playing out. and me and Ze Drummer are working on some fun stuff. just... cold turkey. HARD.

hurm. looks like the singer (the only one left after me and Ze Drummer bounced) is looking for "New Musicians". since we ran some backing tracks (way too much. hated that part from jump.) and he has some recordings of my bass solo'd from a recording project we pissed around and lagged our way out of..... should i be worried that when somebody asked him what positions he was trying to fill he just said "guitar and drums"?

i guess my concern would be him trying to do shows with my shit running on a backing track. i told him he was welcome to keep going, i thought it was understood "don't use my bass".... even though i did a ton of the writing on everything else i'm really just uncomfortable with the bass being used. never left a band that kept going. i feel all..... weird.

me and dooder have exchaned like two emails.... so contacting him is twitchy no matter what. do i need to just man up and lay out what i'm ok with and what i'm not?

I'd say you are within you right,...and I encourage you to tell him to get his own shit,...but be prepared for dRaMa

Question is,...are you properly credited on the material you wrote? If not,...he may just tell you to fuck off and use your shit anyway.

To be honest though,...he sounds like the type of guy that people will realize immediately that he is unpleasant to work with and not be too compelled to keep jamming past the first few rehearsals.

yeah. it sucks, because he was a friend for a LONG time, and i don't wish him ill at all, i just.... don't wish him well with MY STUFF. i pretty much just kept repeating "not fun anymore, i don't wanna get into it" when i grabbed my gear and left. it was fucking HARD. known the guy forever. so no, i didn't break it down super thoroughly. it was just so rough.... and really, hard not to tear up a bit for me. sucked.

that's what one friend i was talking to said - it's probably not going to be a problem 'cause he might never get his sht together enough/might not get along with people well enough to get gigging. and there's not a lot i CAN do if i tell him "please not to use my bass parts" and he ignores me. except for publicly shame him on FB with people we both know and start talking MAD shit..... which is really not how i want to be. but that would probably be my only recourse.

lol. and we're both 30plus. fucking drama? at this age? like that? REALLY?

Unfortunately just cause some takes the low road,...doesn't really give the liberty to do the same. I mean you are free to go that route,...but I think it's advisable to take the high road,....if he uses your shit just chalk it up as a learning experience (that's why I don't write songs,...fuck you,...your the guitarist/keyboardist/singer/drummer,...you fucks right the parts; I do what I want). Or you could just be as offended as a non-effects user who stumbles into an effects subforum and a bass guitar bulletin board.
