DD: Nah, the demonic buttsex only represents my humor. But some people who are of different minority statuses enjoy consuming art and media made by or representing people like them. I mean, i listen to Entombed with the best of them, but sometimes i like to consume art made by other queer people. There are a lot of opportunities in the world for me to be exposed to lots of creative voices from straight men, and white men, or straight white women - in fact the vast majority of metal i listen to is made by those people - so sometimes it's (if nothing else) exciting or interesting to hear what people who aren't those things have to say with their creative processes.

It's not about passing judgment against the music made by straight white men, although i'm exposed to a lot more of that than other stuff, so it does get held to a more rigorous standard sometimes. Although even that is not true, per se: I hold all the music i listen to to a high standard.

Maybe I'm naive or maybe you've grown cynical but I have a firm belief that if cool shit is cool people can put aside their preconceptions about a lot of things that exist outside of a body of work, even if they may directly pertain to or bear weight in the said work.
You'll always get some dumbasses that stick to their guns but they are dumbasses and they'll hopefully die in some sad/embarassing/painful manner.

And IP, i don't disagree. I'm... an "optimistic nihilist" lets say? But i know that for me, being who i am, it's often super exciting and encouraging to see music being made by other people who experience the world in similar ways as me, or also experience whatever we want to call these kinds of disenfranchisement. But i agree. People in here didn't realize that Vastum had queer members, but for me it was one of the big things that initially drew me to them. But also the music is fucking solid as a rock, so cool shit is cool and people catch on to that, regardless of whether they're getting pumped about all the Bataille and Foucault bullshit for the same reasons as me, or even at all.

Personally, as a musician, i aim to make music that can be enjoyed by anyone that i would want to have a pleasant conversation with. But i also know i'm a trans woman playing in metal and punk and other extreme/underground scenes, and there's not many of us, and sometimes it's just awesome to hear music being made by other trans women and get to resonate with them about that shit, and just jive on our own thing. I'm far from a separatist, though. Just, the world taught me to be a little cautious.
