I felt like the OCD got too compressed too quickly for my tastes when I boosted it. I used it as the booster, rather than boostee. The DLS responds remarkably well and isn't picky at all about what you run into it.
While I do use an OCD in this fashion they aren't exactly well known for reacting well being boosted by a fuzz, unless you turn the gain way down and the volume up. if you want low gain breakup it works fine but if your going for more of a jcm800 grit then the DLS is honestly probably a better choice. The whole reason I brought up the order switcher a few pages back is because over time I've come to the same conclusion as you, it likes being the booster not being the boosted. And now that I'm using the Peavey as my gigging amp I can switch to amp break up at the amp input by just pushing a channel select button (it has a clean input channel and a dirty [read hairy OD] channel) if I so desire.
Well, when i saw your burial chamber demo a while ago and we had that exchange on FB...that gave me the idea of having the OCD as the boostee...but yeah, the more i read the more it seems like its better suited to boost other pedals. The only problem, my new pedalboard until now was going to be all black and white...but the DLS has colour...that kinda sucks...I could say i have OCD for making sure colours match, but that would be a bad joke!
I really have been curious about the DLS. Is it that good? I never see them for sale used, so i imagine people like them once the buy one.

FWIW my old guitarist used his OCD as a boost to his amp and it was fucking awesome. Not really for Doom tones, but definitely Desert-y.

Once I built the rat OCD dual pedal I realized how awesome that is for boosting. You can get serious metal tone with those 2.

yeah that's the issue, they are hard to come by...and from what i gather, the Mk1 wasnt that good compared to the other versions...but they did do a Mk1 revision, which brings the pedal alive.
If i pick one up, i'll do a demo with some nice heavy fuzzy goodness...there's not any reviews on youtube for doom applications, which kinda sucks.

yeah, its great for boost...but looks like DSL is better for being the boostee...but i havent played either, this based purely on general consensus and youtube clips.

Well Cbread did do a special edition black DLS late last year. Regardless, the MkIII is black and grey and apparently is the cat's pajamas.

I'll see if I can post a clip of my MkII getting boosted by several fuzzes.
I'll put together Pharaoh, Ritual, Oath, HM2, and Dirt Transmitter, and I'll try not to be embarrassed by my playing.

best reason to do anything, ever.
for what its worth i find just about all your stuff to be something I am interested in. I just don't always comment on it cause there's so dam much of it! Also I don't want to come off as a stalker

Seriously man I have no idea how you are able to do it. You are on several forums, seemingly all the time, and you still manage to build everything you do with a seriously high level of craftsmanship, and from your demo's, you are far from sucking at guitar, which also takes time to accomplish and maintain skills with.
I take my hat off to you sir.

thanks for the nice words. I appreciate that. I wanted to comment on this since i saw it this morning. I certainly do have a lot of cool things happening with regards to dunwich but as with any business there is a job aspect of it that can kinda suck. In order to maintain all of those things you listed I have to pretty much eskew a lot of fun stuff. I rarely get personal time to just play guitar and sort of experiment with my own stuff. I have not even turned on the mobius to play it in 3 weeks or so since I am too busy with other peoples builds. As such i dont even own my own amp. Its pretty much non stop after work I build, and try to decompress. Do some demoes for people and for myself. I do spend time helping other people grow their name (avedissian and magic pedals recently) as this is the only way things can be done in the DIY/small business community.
sort of comes off as a whine but i just wanted to put that shit in perspective. As fun as it is, its also stressful.

What's the specs on the EGC?
Series 2, black grey flamed wood body, black body (underside), thick 60s neck. Was wanting the neck Anodized but Kevin has having trouble sourcing it.
Nice. What's the time frame on it?

Making this for ms. dunwich

I didn't know she actually played guitar. That's cool.
I had a girlfriend who played piano once. It was hawt.

Sorry, but that made me giggle.

i've read a lot about how scooped the OCD is and how the DLS has a lot more mids...i like my mids!
what do you guys think about alternatives to OCD?
Check out the Field Effects Manifold Drive. It's like the OCD in that it's not supposed to replicate any one specific amp but just a big tube amplifier at loud volumes. It's a little more pricey but you can find them for dirt cheap second-hand. Also, look at the Blackout Effectors Mantra with the low-gain mod.
