I've listened a few times now and I think it is...just blended low.

My first instinct was a synth with either an envelope follower into pitch cv or somebody tracking and running away with the pitch once the string instruments decays....but I can hear hints of inharmonic sounds slightly below but it is still "in tune" (which is why I think it is blended low just to get that osc sweep whine). Ring mod is the simplest answer I think (and with the ic ones, they can be swept while not playing to get that whine).

Good stuff!

Did you mean: massive ring mod? (3 items)

Im here, cant really compete (or indeed, want to compete) with work like this. His launch of the string ringer clone looks and sounds great. My only concern is that they did not use good quality footswitches, and seemingly did not adjust the footswitching for reduction of carrier bleed in the signal. Everything is board mounted, including the aforementioned footswitchesm which could be troublesome to replace.

Overall the build quality looks good. The LT-44 transformers dont look exactly like the ones I used to source in the UK (from the same place as Lovetone, I checked with Dan Coggins...) however they have designed their own PCB which looks pretty great.

I think the price of $375 is quite reasonable too, considering the enclosures I beleive to be custom fabricated in house.

I'm clearly missing a little back story here (apologies) but can I pester you for elaboration on this snippet? I'm having trouble fitting these conceptual blocks together.

I think maybe he is referring to building a different bypass system (like relays, buffers, or something) so that the extra hot carrier and LFO doesn't bleed into the fuzz only or bypass signal because of the mechanical switch. I've experienced that on a few pedals in the past.

But I don't know, I could be wrong.

Gigahearts: good to hear from you...Still enjoying the dam/uglyface. Are you still selling boards?

Makes sense, I'm probably a culprit on bleed myself. Early morning low caffeine posts, hahaha.

In other news, I've got the design of the Monobius (smaller brother to the Polybius) ring mod finalized. Just need to get the boards manufactured, once I'm past that I plan on shipping you one for reference/feedback.

I posted this in our alternate ring mod thread, thought I'd post it here too. Appears there might be a revision of the Wilson Mycelium in the works:

Yes! So excited! Saw the boards on the other online social place! Coolest looking boards haha.

(Sorry it took so long...My Nexus had a bricking update with a known bootloop activation due to a hardware problem built in by LG and Google's software. Back to Motorola).

Awesome, my aim is to have demonstrators on line by end of month. Hopefully I can improve my videographer skills enough to cut some samples going up to that.

I also still owe you guys stuff from the analog chart recorder, though to be fair on giving it another listen it didn't sound like ring modulation to me.

Onward & upward.
