Swarm IS interesting. would wait till they're available though. kinda haaaate the.... flexibility.... of deadlines on first run of stuff. lol. especially with Kickstarter. but yeah. SEXY.
also, this is way more mellow than we all seem to usually go for with modular, but i like how this turned out -

it's just a loop with the FLXS playing out some different slightly rando stuff on the higher pitched melody (MiniMod VCO into ChronoBlob into Jovey) and the repeating bass of the Twin Waves with a Digitakt/Basimilus looped beat underneath.
going to pick parts to use and figure out other sections on this hopefully this weekend.

I think I am waiting until the Swarm is available just because I can't justify it right now. I really want to get one eventually. I pre-ordered a Lyra-8, but I think the Swarm would do a lot of similar things and would work better with the rest of my gear. At least I have 6 months to decide

Very nice, behndude. I love hearing people do tunes like this with modular.

When you patch up the ISD's rec/stop/play controls with Pressure Points sequenced gates, some nice stuttery stuff happens. Clips soonish hopefully.
Also, Muskrat & Kitty Eyes incoming, first order from Control.

anybody have one? i had the Jupiter Boutique thingy, was.... so so?
or is there another little portable fun synth with cv patchable points?
How portable? Cos I assume MKI Analog 4s would have to be pretty cheap second hand in the USA these days. There's nothing better than pairing elektron with elektron, plus you get 4 voices with 4 assignable CV out's...
If you are looking for like battery powered level portable than it won't quite work but I highly recommend you have a look.. Could free up a subtractive voice from your Euro to do other cool shit idk

solid suggestion but.... lol. i freaking HATE the Elektron interface. Digitakt is the first one that i've used that was any good.
i'd rather have battery powered i guess? i 'm going to use a battery charger with mains for the DT, would mebbe kill it tooooo quick with 2 devices on it.
murrrr might be a moot point, i gots a bum load of cash tied up in the Swarm and GR-1 and the last 4 modules i need for this case. WHENEVER THEY'RE FREAKING AVAILABLE.
but. jia. would be nifty to know if there were any awesome porta-synth options.

So, I'd always considered modular as something interesting but I never really had a reason to get into it. I never had a good answer for the first question you should ask yourself when building a rack: "what am I trying to get out of this?".
That changed for me today at Music Expo SF. I really have had very little hands-on time with modular synths (played the rack at Switched On a few times, and I've got VCV rack). 4MS was at the expo, Hugo there was a super awesome dude to meet and chat with, and of course they had a 9U case populated with all of their modules. The new tapographic delay they're doing is very cool but I was drawn to this large module with a little ring of LEDs. It looked cool, and said "resonator" on it, which very much interests me. Fast forward about 30 mins later after Hugo talked me through some of the many ways to use the spectral resonator and I'm just feeling totally obsessed. The sound from that module is exactly the answer to my question "what and I trying to get out of modular?". I look up the price as soon as I'm home and of course

I've chosen something silly expensive to get hooked on right out of the gate. I know there are other, more affordable modules out there that are resonators, but I'd like to get into the idea of building a small case focused around the 4MS resonator. I'm specifically interested in just making textural drone stuff with a heavy focus on that 4MS resonator. I'm sure I'll have lots of noob questions later but I'm just going to dig in and start with some reading. I'm not in a rush to do this, as I'm moving soon, but I've definitely entered the planning/pre-planning phase.
And it isn't pre-pre-planning if you haven't started on MG yet, right?

You have resonators stacked on rasonators there, I can already hear the ear piercing resonant peaks.

BURN THE EARS DOWN.
damnit. there's so many cool music'y things in the Bay Yarea and i miss all of them. always feel so out of the loop. anything RobotSpeak does is midday Saturday, impossible for me to get to most weeks. and i just never realize other neat things until they have happened. NEED TO PAY MORE ATTENTION.
also, Euclidean Circles and Evil Drum Oscillator are en route. i am excite. i like the SCM a LOT, but it's always so unruly. which, USEFUL. but i want to play with slower off swappy bits.

also also, i know this will NEVER happen, and mebbe it's offensive to the whole idea of a Completely Modular Setup, but what i would loooooooooove......
if every module that had a Clock In/Out had it on the back of the module as well. and normalled so if you put something in the Clock In/Out on the front it broke the path. but if you wanted to have a master clock, you could wire all that in the back. i get annoyed at myself whenever i'm tearing a patch down and i forget to leave the clock paths in.
