just go with the Blur concept..."Song 1." or the vague sort of thing that's worked for everyone from Hot Tuna to Slowdive: "(noun or adjective) Song."

the older guy/younger band thing worked out pretty good for Paul Westerberg and the Replacements...the kids were a KISS cover garage band when he found them.

Just don't call it "untitled" that's been done to death. I'm always super Dada about naming songs. I say the first thing that comes to my head then try not to ever think about it again.

i named one of my loop pieces "Walt Disney" because Doodahman started a thread on here called "what new pieces have you imagineered?" and "imagineering" was a Walt Disney neologism. of course, naming instrumentals is easier, because you can be totally arbitrary.

another way to name a song is to pick a word at random from the lyric, especially from the chorus or "tag line." for example, if you wrote a Jack White-style song with the chorus "i'm gonna chase you down and cut off your head," you could call it "Chase," "Cut," or "Head." My Bloody Valentine did this a lot.

I do instrumental music but i still have trouble coming up with song names... i'm trying to base them on feelings i get from said songs but sometimes it's hard... this song is kinda dodgy

My current band has a 5 song set, (5 long songs = 30-35 min. set) we've played out several times and we're are set to record proper in November yet we don't have real names for our songs.
We just call them "First Song, Second Song, Third Song, Fourth Song and New Song" all of them start out as "New Song" until they are replaced by a new song and then they become the next #+Song.

Be glad you're still young. All the ppl 20 years younger that want to start a band with me live 100 miles away. The young local yokels are openly age-discriminitory, which is fine cuz they're 95% stupid as fuck. Locals my age are only doing cover bands for money, or church music. Folks twice my age are dead.

So, to restate: SEE? U R SO LUCKY! :!!!:

yup. use random occurrences. i acquire lyrics that way regularly...a sentence or phrase or word catches my ear, and into the memory bank it goes.

We have lyrics but they are kind of sparse and not completely legible.
The lyricist may have names for the songs but I am unaware of them.
He could be screaming " That dude play....ing....gui......tar.........Is in...to farm sex........." and I would never know it. :erm: :?: :wha?:
