It sounds like it would be very conflicting. I hope sometime you can just let yourself go and get it all out.

i was like that for years in my teens and twenties...my parents were alcoholic and violent, and so when i was about twelve i decided i wasn't going to cry any more and shut that part of my emotions down. that part of my emotional makeup didn't start coming out again until i was about twenty or twenty-one, and only did so gradually. i guess it was an extended PTSD thing. i had to believe that it was all right to let it out, that i could LET myself have that kind of level of feeling without it eating me up, because when i closed down it was because i couldn't bear it. and i was a crazy intense, ADD-before-it-was-defined, wildly emotional kid, so for me not to be able to take it...it was heavy.

I have half of a problem set on patent law due in five hours, and I've been watching replays from StarCraft 2 tournaments. I've never even played StarCraft 2. I'm pretty sure my procrastination abilities are unrivaled.

Fuck, I do that too!
My confession is that today, I just started a new job as a guitar teacher.
Half the students read sheet music (as in, not tablature).
I can't read sheet music.

I always feel like an idiot for being unable to read sheet music

Glad I'm not alone

I can read sheet music to some degree, definitely not good enough to read a piece without pause while playing though. It annoys me to no end.

"Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt" just came up on shuffle and now I want to get really baked and listen to De-Loused all the way through. I've always wanted to do that and never had.

use guitar pro to learn, it displays tablature under the score (and you can eventually turn the tablature off!)
i love that program so intensely.

I used to use it to write stuff. I have a couple GP4, 5 and 6 files laying around from when I was in high school. It's such an amazing program.

Thanks guys, I'll check out Guitar Pro

The students are 9 to 13 years old, learning really simple stuff, so I'm not stressing too much.

shit. i have NO idea what i'm doing. when somebody talks about going 1 to 4 then resolving to the 5 (that could be total bullshit. again, i know NOTHING) i have zero idea what that means. like, i've had people sit down and explain scale structure and i get the concept, but i'm a musical IDIOT. i have no idea what you're s'posed to do ever in anything. i know my way around the fretboard ok and i have patterns that i enjoy, but that's all i think in, is patterns. i have to stop and puzzle out where i'm at if i want to explain to somebody what root notes i'm going from to.
seriously, i am RIDICULOUSLY uneducated about the instrument i love playing.
