It's scarily similar.

To be quite honest,...I've been avoiding TBOT,...there are so many judgmental and opinionated assholes over there competing for attention that I'm content to stick with TBFX and occasionally pop into the NHL threads on OT. I'm not sure which exchange you mean but I've read some of what the he's posted in the past and while Doc Cheez has always come of as extremely educated,...it seems like a lot of what he posts is just to stir up racial emotions,...
As far as racism goes, beyond what is on the surface (which is just outright hate because people won't take responsibility for they're own laziness or lack of ambition)...I think that mass amounts of white people have been manipulated into fearing every other race. I think the mass amounts of black people have been manipulated into fearing the establishment; Fear begets fear dividing us and making us more easily controlled by the establishment. If we are too busy bickering with and hating on one another,...are attention is deflected away from who and what is actually harming us.
You can take that theory and substitute race with terrorism, drugs, abortion, atheism, paganism, christianity, judaism, islam, disease, gout, erectile dysfunction, wrinkles, getting old,...but when it comes down to it,...what we really need to be afraid of is our hedonistic, entitled, mass consumption of resources, corporatist, money grubbing, disconnected from our planet, plutocratic (disguised as democratic) culture we find ourselves in.
I find that TBOT is a bit of a microcosm of that fear based mentality,...surely there are those on there that see through all that bullshit and I like a lot of people there (Maki, Gard, Joe Gress, Phalex, James Hart, Dave Grossman to name a few)...but most of the TBOT crowd are sheeple peasants that just infuriate me. If not because they are buying into fear based consumption, but because they are attention whores trying to impress the OG TBOT crowd.

So, instead of black folks fearing the establishment, we all should fear the establishment?

Well I think we should all be united in civil discourse to change the establishment, not so much fear it. Unfortunately it seems as though most everybody is too busy trying to get a piece of the consumerist action to care about changing the establishment.

Yeah,...I don't hold much optimism for the civil discourse,...hell I don't even know what to do,...
I know what not to do,...which is not have credit cards and avoid subprime mortgages, HAMP loans, student loans, car loans and banks in general and not trust nor listen to any politician (Bernie Sanders maybe. You are from VT,...is he legit?).
Maybe my version of civil discourse is not owning the latest and greatest TV's Gadgets and Cars,...Trying to think Critically and question Authority/Everything I'm presented with by the media.

Bernie Sanders is legit. Leahy's semi-legit (though I signed up for his campaign just so I could get a Leahy '12 sticker to discreetly plaster on my dad's car a couple years ago and got no such sticker...) but still a good dude.
I put a lot more faith in Sanders than most other politicians, because he's one of the few that votes/thinks/speaks out on the behalf of his constituency.
Full Disclosure: I'm not actually from VT, but I've lived here for the last five-ish years. There's a lot of good to be had (we're in the process of figuring out state-level legislation to make single-payer healthcare work, for example), there are definitely some problems with our hippie, socialism-lite ideals.
