also i got too excited about the EMW Arcade Noise module and ordered from them before i realized they built to order, ship from BRAZIL, and Perfect Circuit stocks them. dooder was kind enough to cancel the order and i've got one from PC headed out today. WOOT.

I made a tiny system in modulargrid for the AMBS

Building imaginary systems is fun.

I usually hate menu diving modules, but I love my O_C. I find it very straight forward and surprisingly intuitive to use. The user interface is really well laid out and organised. I still haven't explored all the modes, but I mostly bought it to replace my Turing Machine and quantizer with the Quantermain mode (4 quantizers with the option to feed them from independent Turing Machines). I've also messed with Quadraturia (a quadrature LFO), Piqued (4 envelope generators), and Viznutcracker (I honestly don't know what byte beats are but this mode generates them and they sound pretty cool).
I was not in love with my O_c when I got it. But I finally printed out a manual for all of those times when I've asked, "I wonder if it can do this...." And most of the time it can. I feel like I'm pretty comfortable in a few of the modes, though for the life of me, I can't convince myself to dive into the chord generation apps. It's not necessarily my favorite module, but I feel like I end up using it all the time for quantizing and melody because I really have programming sequencers. I'd much rather just have something else come up with a melody for me!

Can you drop a link to this? We all know how good the MW search function is....

The main thing I use OC for is quantizing also, but what an amazing quantizer! It has trigger delay, scale masks, user scales! I just wish it had 4 more inputs to really make the quantizer go deep with automating transpose or scale mask rotation. I often use it in Meta-Q mode to get that extra control but then of course you lose 2 ‘tracks.’

..... if you swapped a uClouds in you could get a Pam's or a BIA in there too. or eventually a Plonk/Transient if you ditched the multiple. JUST SAYING.
also, someone break down what sync on an osc does for me? i kinnnnnd of get it, but not. like. throughly?

Oh, that was me just playing around, my planned system is a bit bigger (and tastier

)
Oscillator sync is when you couple two oscillators so that the wave of the second one (the slave) restarts when the first one (the master) finishes a cycle. Generally this can be done abruptly (hard sync) or partially by a set amount or by a ratio of the differences between the two waves (soft sync). Iirc, I'm pulling all of this out of memory.

groovy. that's kinnnnnda what i remembered, but i have only played with sync on the Monologue i used to have i think.
thanks!

also, Twin Waves is BOSS. holy butts that's a lot of oscillator in a SMALL package. sounds great, love the options, super fun using Harmonaig into it and the MiniMod VCO for 3 note chords.

ok, maybe asking the question this way will solicit more responses.
How do you record your eurorack tracks? What's your process?
Are you just running straight from the stereo outs on your eurorack mixer and basically recording your live take? Are you recording indiviudal tracks to your DAW? If so, how? Are you just running individual outputs to your DAW and if so are you just letting all parts play all the time and editing in your DAW? If you want to control attenuation or mute tracks of those individual tracks how are you doing it? I'm assuming the attenuation through VCAs probably? but what about muting a track or portion or whatever. I was thinking the easiest solution is just routing individual outs of each track to an outboard mixer with individual outs and running that through the inputs on my interface to the DAW but also heard that's going to degrade the sound and not the best way to do it.... so..... just wondering how other people are doing it since i hear of so many different workflows for different people when researching this topic.
Like for example... the ES-3, 6 and/or 8 method seems like an easy way to interface but my somewhat live take of pulling parts in and out while recording doesn't really work since there is no actual mixer involved. Same with the NW2S::IO and Praxis Snake.
I'm feeling like for what i'm imagining I need to just get the Frap Tools CGM Creative Mixer solution and call it a day for both recording needs and playing live with the pre and post fader individual out options but i don't know.....

Mix 01 into swestopol if I want the layering/elements to be one track, individual elements out to the Swes if I don't.

lol. i'm just recording out my modules into inputs on my mixer/interface which show up as separate outs in my computer DAW.
it sucks because i want to do what you're talking about, but outside of the top of the line of what i have (which is 2 g's instead of 6 hundy), i can't find a mixer that lets you record post fader. which is DUMB.
so i record, then match fades/mutes afterwards with the audio from the video.
guyyyyyys i think he means recording SEPARATE tracks with fades/mutes in the recording, not down to a stereo track.
down to a stereo track is EASY.

Yeah, i don't know why it seems like it's so difficult to find a solution for this. I can't imagine being the only person that wants to record different parts of tracks at different times without having to go back and figure out where they were after recording it and trying to recreate what i either did pre-fader or whatever i just have envisioned. Definitely want them recorded on separate tracks because i like to use VSTs for EQ, compression, additional effects, etc etc. I also may not like a specific level of ONE thing after i record just using the stereo outs from my euro mixer and it ruins the whole take and can't be fixed.

yurp. individual tracks for dayyyyyyyyys.
for just mutes, i do sometimes pop the output of the module in and out of the Sexo Boxo Dan Dan made for me.
low tech, but works.
