The Shruthi can be a cruel mistress, particularly when you're just starting out. I think if you're familiar with how synths work you'll have an easier time, but MD did what I did when I first unboxed it: I twisted the wrong knobs and the sound stopped and I couldn't figure out why the first 10 times or something. It's pretty awesome for $40. Have only played direct into my mixer and with the Monotribe, which sounded awwwwwwesome with the Noisebox before it.
