Well first I'll say that now that my partner and I have split, I sometimes feel like a pretentious weirdo for liking stuff like Tim Hecker (I mean, there's ILF  but not as many people IRL who enjoy the same stuff). So, in the middle of his set when I looked around at this crazy full venue and saw that 1,000 other people were silently spontaneously swaying to this weird fuzzy alien drone church music it gave me the feels. closest thing i've had to religion in a while

visuals were thin horizontal bars of LEDs set up on tripods at varying heights on the stage and a ton of smoke machine fog. the lights shown through the smoke and changed colors and did trippy things and it was awesome.

Savages headlining tour with Head Wound City.

Can't remember the date but it's in Nashville so there's a chance I won't make it, but these are two of my true loves and I need to see them.

Meanwhile it seems that Converge played two of their most amazing sets at Roadburn playing Jane Doe and with the Blood Moon collaboration so i think i'm going to kick myself in the theeth 600times for not having been there.

Yeah, both looked very interesting. Buddy's father lives in Paris so he goes to Europe pretty frequently. We briefly flirted with the idea of going.

Another friend got tickets for us to see At The Drive In on June 20 in Detroit. Been way north of 10 years since I've been to a show at St. Andrews Hall. Any ILFers planning on being there?

I missed True Widow but did manage to find their record at RPM Records in Traverse City, Michigan. As a side note, for any of you in the Midwest with spouses, TC is a great weekend getaway, especially if you're into booze. RPM is the best record store I've been to, anywhere (and we have quite a few decent ones in Chicago).

The Jane Doe set was not nearly as good as the Blood Moon one -- that was fucking transcendent. The JD set was rad, but since I've never been a massive Converge fan (even though they're sort of 'local'/regional heroes) it was just fun to be there watching them play it while I partied.

Fuck, me that is a ridiculous lineup.

Bands not to be missed in the small (and smaller) print:
Fu Manchu, Colour Haze, Mars Red Sky, Budos Band, The Cosmic Dead, Oresound Space Collective, Shroud Eater, Gozu, Fatso Jetson, Mudhoney, Fireball Ministry (fuck me that would be unreal).. Pentagram will either be amazing or amazingly awful depending on Bobby, but don't miss them in case they're on.

I think the worst sort of things about these fests is that you'll inevitably have to make choices.

D.o.S. I'm gonna be in Portland at some point in July and I'll let you know when I'm coming. So you can be *conveniently* out of town.
I will *actually* be out of town from the 4th through the 12th of July. Outside of that I should be here so we can drink beer and argue about Burzum. :thumb:
