Already? Pretty sick set up, wouldn't mind sport'n that board. What really saddens me is I've never owned a fz-2.

I'm just replacing the Hardwire delay for something simpler, like maybe an ibanez DE-7. The DL8 is sorta overkill, even though at the same time the lofi/mod/analog/tape/wtvr modes all sounds really similar. I've got a Fab Tone incoming, as well as a Musket fuzz....So I'm gonna have to make a couple tough decisions.

1st world problem'd

I did, on my bigger board. Unmusical, annoying...And fucking brutal. As in, make sure your speakers can handle it, wear safety goggles, and keep small children indoors.

True story: My amp -tube head- danced right off of the cab it was on because of the vibration, fell straight on is face. If you know what the average 100 watt head weighs, you can imagine what sort of frequencies and volume levels we're talking about here :)

All of that is as rad as I was hoping. :thumb: :!!!: :doom:

Good thing only one of the amp's knobs and the speaker cable went kaputz, wouldn't have been so rad if the tubes or whatever broke...:s

It still had my old hiwatt cab back than though, those fanes put out a lot more low end thunder than the meh Marshall 196O cab I'm using these days.
Wasn't even playing my baritone or anything, just a jazzmaster tuned to drop c I think. Since than I started using a lashing belt to strap my amp to the cab.

Word to the wise: Take precautions when you use the sub setting on a Mastotron at high volumes, and/or when you combine an octave down pedal with an FZ-2 that's eq'd very bassy.

Get onto rectifying that.

FZ2 may sound the most evil, be warned about the harsh mid scoop, however.
I'd really like an original Ibanez Standard Fuzz, but my bank says no.
May have to one settle for a creepy fingers clone instead.
But then you miss out on the rad enclosure and the sliders.
THE SLIDERS.

How much is the Creepy Fingers version? I've seen standard fuzzes go for around 220 euro regularly enough and it's what I paid for mine.

I also make a version of them as used by Conan and Slomatics among others for around half that. I still want a Creepy Fingers pedal some day.

Dude, if I knew you made one I'd have just hit you up.
You got some deets?
$250US for the CF Harakiri here: https://www.axeandyoushallreceive.com/product/creepy-fingers-harakiri-fuzz

It's called the Satellite Fuzz, direct price is 120 euro (+ €10 shipping anywhere in the world). It similar scoop knob as per the Harakiri along with the fuzz and volume controls, but also include the second footswitch so you can flip between whatever amount of scooped mids you like and full range like the original. Three way clipping toggle with Germanium diodes, silicon and none for a huge volume boost. NOS Japanese transistors like the original too. I don't have a proper demo yet but any video from Conan's US tour will be just the Satellite on guitar. Jon hates mids so the tone is full scoop.

So I've been trying lots of different dirt out in front of the matamp and I keep coming back to this setup:

Image

The ODB has the crunch and flexibility I like, and its the most natural and amp like. The Matamp seems to like dirt pedals with very little tone coloring properties, the more "transparent" the more it likes it. So I'm using the ODB with just a lil mid and low boost into the VTM delay into the tuner and then into the clean boost. Works like a charm and sounds like a howling beast at any volume level, which was an issue I was having before. If I loaded up the low end on the board before the amp it would break up in a weird and unpleasant way as I turned it up (as in it got loose in the low end and the crunch didn't crunch). Really pleased with this setup \/ for now. :yay:

Thats so nice skip!

I know what you mean about the dirt on the matamp...i had similar quandaries until i simplied my dirt side of the equation.

What speakers are in those cabs youre running with the matamp?

Thanks Sam!!

Yeah it really surprised me its very very different than how I'm used to amps reacting to pedals. The only thing that colors tone that it seems to like is big muffs, which isn't exactly the tone I'm after.

They are Eminence Legends, 2 12's and 1 15 all 16ohms. So its technically a 5.3ohm cab but its rated at 8 and I havent had any issues running it at 8. They are brighter than the weber 65's in the Emperor, but it works cause the matamp is dark as shit.

Nice, Skip!

And thanks, Moose! Whenever I get 130euro together I'll hit you up.
I seem to keep following John around as far as dirt goes.
Always a pedal behind!
Actually when my Dunwich silicon rolls in ill probably be running a poor man's Conan rig.
So there's that.

Edit: just watched the Warlord intro there, sounds very evil. Nice cut. Good work, dude!

Cool cheers.

I need to try an ODB some time although I generally just boost into old tube amps for my overdriven bass sounds.

Thats where the ODB really shines IMO, boosting an overdriven tube amp. My tone is it > 30db boost > the matamp with gain maxed.

I'm just boosting clean tube amps with no master volumes. Anything heavier is fuzz for me. Before this I had a fuzz set low gain for my overdrive but preferring the clean boost now for that slight drive you get from hitting the preamp.
