I posted this in the other GAS thread, when it's probably more appropriately posted here.

$700 for the new Moog delay...it should talk itself out of a purchase, right?

Same dilema... but that sound... those repets with different shapes.

I hate to jump on the "I don't get why it's so expensive" bandwagon but This one is completely lost on me, it does sound awesome, but I don't think it sounds significantly better than any of the delays I am using.

It's not exactly just the sound... it's the control over the shape of the repete that is calling me.

I guess this goes here
Ever since I looked at tommasters' pedal selloff I am enticed by the idea of doing the same. Selling everything I have save for very few beloved pedals, maybe buying one or the other I haven't had the chance to buy yet but that would fit perfectly, selling all the guitars and amps and get one Rock Solid Setup.
I might even end up with a little extra money to spend on pimping clothes.

I'm with you on this, while it does sound pretty fucking awesome, I don't think it sounds $700 awesome.

I'm gonna pull out the,"You could get a decent amp for what this pedal costs," card.

I already have a decent amp.

I don't really wants to spend $700 on a pedal, but I really really really want that sound (step repete).

I did this several months ago. I went from 22 pedals down to 8. I ended up with an Orange AD200B and an Ernie Ball bass.
Then I wanted another Ernie Ball Bass, I went down to 4. One of them isn't a pedal though really but it does have a footcontroller (Roland VB-99). I am happy.
I was happy when I went down to 8 pedals. All 8 were of high quality, very usable live and covered a ton of ground.
If I could, I would have 100s of pedals. But, alas I am a mere mortal, the Amp is the most powerful part of my sound.

Re: The talk you OUT of GAS thread!
I have thought about chopping way down the pedal and guitar collections and getting a decent basic setup, not sure I ever want to do it but I think about it once in a while. When all I could get was accoustic shows I really thought about cutting down, I did end up unloading half stacks for smaller amps and a decent AE Classical at one point but unloading the pedals sounds terrible.

Re: The talk you OUT of GAS thread!
Well, I have an awesome OD, awesome Fuzz, a parallel looper/blender, and the VB-99 does everything else. Delay, Reverb, Trem, Slicer, Octaver, Pitch Shifting, and more like Synth stuff. Plus, it does it well. Admittedly, I am just learning the VB-99. So I am not missing much.

Klon cost more then that with only 3 knobs.
I'm really not sure anyway. I'm just thinking about it.

I think you should try out the Ampeg reverb first, I ended up getting rid of all my reverbs because of how awesome the Sceptre's reverb was. True spring reverb sounds sooooo good. Did you get a chance to play it?
