nice man...i like coil tapping...but i could never stand that whole push/pull volume knob thing. I find that completely unusable. But this multi switch is excellent. I'm still tossing whether to do this on my LP, or change humbuckers out for some P90's.

you can. I only like to series p90s, or singular coils so you get this very wide humbucker which kind of melds the bridge and neck together. Its an awesome mode on a tele.

if they made CTS pots with DPDT switches i would do it that way but they dont so i am going with the this switch. Of course its already routed for it in my baritone so it makes sense

Yeah I remember you and I discussing this on the phone. Obviously there's not much for me to discuss being generally ignorant of tube theory and application. But those guys have worked on dozens and dozens (hundreds even?) of Oranges and Mike was even considered a bit of an authority on the brand back in the 80s so I can't really see them selling snake oil with this. What is probably happening here is that I am woefully inadequate with my explanation of their explanation. I have seen this kind of thing happen on the internet

I have seen the discussion between pre and post 74 on OAFG, but the reasons were tonal rather than anything else according to the site. Unless the original schemes for the early OR models are wrong I just dont know. Maybe something I can ask mike directly if we come to Seattle. I myself have not worked on any of those amps, just the practical experience of building the 70s GT120 type amps. Never seen issues with the PI. The cathodyne has some wonky behavior when its overdriven, but thats kind of part of its charm and it happens in both the AC and DC coupled cases. Pass along my inquiry to mike and see what he says.

I can tell you that that is the sort of thing both Mike and Bill could get really into discussing at length. They'd probably open the floodgates for a guy that actually knows his shit. It'd be funny if it's just pre 74 vs post and I'm just a dunce. Stranger things have happened! My point is that you should hurry up and visit Seatown dude!

try it in V2 then. I think it will have more use their since V1 is already a 12at7 and you can trim that stages gain down. But try both 2. Swap V1 into V2, then 12au7 in V1.
