lol. they're not as bad as some MANLY pedals though. i hit this footie for... Beef? fucking. label it what it IS.
also, going to list my OP-1 again for the cashies. it sounds so good, i just can't click with the tape recording aspect.
Hmm I really don't think the Phonogene is that bad! Once you know what all the controls do the lines and knob colouring are helpful, and it's all fairly intuitive. Morpha is probably a bit deeper I assume, but still doesn't look too bad to me! Phono is my fav piece of gear at the moment, I find it fun to create with. Different strokes I guess!

I do think at a glance MN modules have a slightly confused layout, the font, naming conventions, lightning bolts/art, and sometimes odd jack placement. But come on, the Morphagene, to get amazing results, you don’t need to know fuck all. Just turn does nobs. If you are concerned with getting predictable or repeatable results you will need to spend some time.
Edit: I am glad none of my modules have a Beef control though.

That was cool!
Yeah I agree it's the sort of thing that just sounds cool but that depends what you're using it for/looking for from a sampler.

i don't know what that is! wooooo!!
this.... is how i would want to use a sampler though. something about the Morphagene just turns me off. every time i have the room or extra cashes i end up grabbing something else. part of it is i don't love MN labeling and contorls i think?

Been using Jove a bunch since I got it, first proper Euro filter... & my favorite thing to do with it has been using it as a low pass gate

There's other straight filter-y stuff I like doing with it but I'm not crazy about the resonance characteristics. & with more and more use, I'm finding the Optomix isn't really for me. I really like the ability to use the dampening knob as a static HPF to keep things less muddy, but there's too many things I wish were different.
& of course while thinking about this all I stumbled upon this and I'm all like

Totally! It's the sort of thing that really has to be what you're after, won't just take things and be 'musical' on its own.

I still really want a Morphagene and don't think it's that hard to understand. A few demos generally make the layout of MN modules make sense to me. The Sampleslicer does look really cool too though. I'm going to get some kind of sample mangler to finish out my setup eventually

Yeah I think the Morphagene is easy to understand. I just meant that what it doesn't have the most immediately obvious use in traditional music I guess.
