Sign me up for at least one PCB or completed build (I'd buy stuff to build it if I have to but I'd rather buy a finished product). I regret leaving the clang gang a few years ago when I sold my 5 knobber and now console myself by watching my two toilet-tier videos of playing through it.

Here's what I have on the breadboard right now. I've also added two mods, just for shits and grins.

Hey, Dino, please change the settings on your channel. YouTube unsubscribed me and I can't click on the bell icon for notifications because you have it set for YouTube Kids. Thanks! Demo sounds great, btw (even with a busted up hand; feel better)!

That sounds pretty bloody good Dino! The overall tone is really similar, at least when filtered via Youtube's algorithms. The gain is, as you pointed out, quite a bit lower, but tbh I quite like that. The reason I didn't buy one way back when is that I always wanted it to go lower gain than it did. The mods sound pretty rad as well!
Music out on all streaming services and bandcamp and what not.

Yeah, sounds really nice! I definitely want one. I never started building my EYG board, but by the looks of it waiting saved me some head scratching. The news of EYG not wanting to make more boards makes me sad, although it's also understandable. Have you considered switching over to doing full on pedals instead? I feel like there's more money to be made that way, plus you don't have to answer so many emails from people having built their kits wrong, me included.

Sounds good to me - I had one ages ago and liked the sound so I'm in for buying a board when they're ready for sale.

Well, I'm glad there is a positive consensus. Just to be clear, when I say "gain", I'm specifically speaking to the amount of boost provided by the filter sections. Volume-wise, I don't hear any marked difference between the two. Like I said in the video, both have the in and out volumes at 50%, and I didn't touch them. There's plenty of juice on tap if one desires to crank things up.goroth wrote:That sounds pretty bloody good Dino! The overall tone is really similar, at least when filtered via Youtube's algorithms. I have done a few commissioned builds over the years. While profitable, they're also terrifying, at least for me anyway. I mean, it hasn't happened yet, but the fear of the client not being satisfied with the final product always gave me the cold sweats. That's in part why I had to impose the "half up front, non-refundable" clause on all my builds. It sucks, but at least it wards off the ones that might try to scam a freebie. In the end, I've only ever had serious customers, and no issues. Or, as the novelty plate on my draft dodging uncle's VW microbus aptly stated, "Ass, Gas, or Grass, nobody rides for free".UglyCasanova wrote:Have you considered switching over to doing full on pedals instead? As for making more money doing complete builds, well, maybe yes, maybe no. It all depends on the conditions. Each business model has to be looked at objectively, and through the harshest light possible. Three hard and fast rules;
- There's only a little tiny sliver of space for dreaming, the rest is all cold hard brutal reality.
- The most important element is "niche". You need to occupy a space where as few toes are being stepped on as possible.
- Don't invest more than what you are totally willing to completely lose, whether it be time or money, and totally without regret.
As far as Phil and I are concerned, producing PCB's is perfect for us. We've developed a brand, and a niche (notice there's not a Fuzz Face or Tube Screamer to be found at DEFX) that suits us, as well as the surrounding market. We don't step on anyone's toes, and they politely stay off ours.
As for the emails, we get surprisingly few, all things considered. We've made it clear, as have our proponents, that we don't make "noob friendly" projects. In fact, we happily encourage noobs to stay away, unless they're real gluttons for punishment

It's called DIY, "Do It Yourself". Not DPYAGSETFIFY, "Do Part Yourself And Get Someone Else To Finish It For You".

It was directed at EYG since he considered getting out of the game, but I appreciate your answer and thoughts too!

Not at all! It was very informative and interesting to me as someone who plans on building more stuff from next year on.

The mods sound cool. Especially that pot. I like the idea of the pot on a second footswitch.digi2t wrote:Here's what I have on the breadboard right now. I've also added two mods, just for shits and grins.

If those make it onto the pcb, I'd be into it.

Re: INFANEM the driving notion clone
I was stoked to see it not having to be put in one of those deep 1590bb enclosures that I never have enough of! Having build at least a dozen deadendfx projects I can say that they really strive to explain everything well in the build doc. I would also add that Dino has been a gentleman when it comes to email correspondence and helping me debug a situation or two that was of course my error.
Ibarakishi commissioned me to build one forever ago and I will gladly be matching Dino's generous offer so that our ILF brother will never go without his beloved pedal again!
