lol at 1000.
It clips even with the volume rolled back. The Brothers does it pretty bad on some settings. The Spectre was totally unusable for me, which sucked.
I have 18v pres. Sooooo....lol
I've had to search long and hard for effects that work with actives. Some just do not for whatever reason.

Can the 18v pre run on a single 9v? Might improve chances of success with fuzz. The debuffer circuits floating around have 9v, not 18v, in mind.
If the pickups sound okay passive, you could add a bypass switch for the pre. Or get a passive bass that works well with fuzz. Assuming you do in fact love fuzz.

So, what are the advantages to you of playing with an active bass?

They are punchier and brighter. Plus they don't sound like muddy butt hole ala P Bass.

Not all passive basses sound like P Basses.
Plus, can't you just get a pedal to make passive pickups sound punchier and brighter?

I heard a rumor that if you stack 30 buffers in a row, it sounds punchy as fuck.

Also,
There's word from deep within the woods that something is coalescing. The soft whispers are growing to a din. It is said that a mighty pact has been forged, one that will forever alter things to come.

Are we talking about tentacle porn, or a new Diablo pedal that instantly incinerates the unworthy?
