I just don't want to flood my channel with random, hardly edited or thought-out clips, but I will make it public for a little while now thanks to you.

 Funny. That's exactly what I want my channel flooded with. :hobbes:

Is anyone using a DMC3XL with their Ottobit? I got one and Im trying to set it up to control the Ottobit for preset selection but its a little confusing and I haven't been able to get it to work.

Nope. I went with a faves for now. But may switch up to one of those eventually.

Disaster area is pretty active in this thread on TGP. I'd post there.

Make sure you set the ottobit for midi input.

I'm still saving up to get a better midi solution. The Disaster Area stuff is way too confusing to me. I'm probably going to go with the Boss ES8 or something similar. It's more intuitive. No offense meant DA folks, I just hate the way that thing menu dives.

I'd still love some presets here. Like anything...examples...whatever. A starting place for the Ottobit would be great. At this point, I'm not really getting much out of it.

It comes with presets

But you need a midi controller to use them

The DMC-3XL Gen3 (the one with five small LEDs above the display) supports the OttoBit Jr and the Mercury7 using the MultiJack connection. If you have an older Gen2 (two large LEDs over the footswitches) then you might be able to use the General MIDI device to talk to it but it'll be limited.

To use the Meris stuff with MIDI you first have to set up the EXP jack on the pedal to accept MIDI input, then you need to assign it to the MIDI channel you want to use.

Hold the left LED switch on power up until all of the LEDs blink 3 times.
Turn SEQUENCER MULT fully clockwise to set the expression input to MIDI.
Turn the FILTER / SEQUENCER knob to select the MIDI channel you want to use.
1 (A) = all LEDs off
2 (B) = Filter Seq on
3 (C) = Pitch Seq on
4 (D) = Filter Seq and Pitch Seq on
Power the pedal off to save

Now run the setup on your DMC.
Pick a device slot to control the Meris pedal - A, B, C, or D.
Set the device driver for that slot to OttoBit. (if you're using the "D" device, you'll first need to set LOOP=DevD.)
Now set JACK = MIDI, J CH = JABC.
Open up the DMC and make sure that the DIP switches are set to ON ON ON.
Connect the OttoBit Jr. to the MultiJack (red) with a patch cable.
Fire it all up and you should be able to scroll presets, tap, send expression, and bypass using the DMC.

Hope that helps!

Hey jwar,

Don't mean to leave you hanging. I've been very hard at work on all new stuff, but on the side I've been thinking about the best way of translating my presets into some sort of graphic for you.

ritz is right, the Ottobit Jr ships with 16 presets, all of which I created when making sound samples and demos. I paid special care that the expression pedal does something useful with every preset. But of course you need a compatible midi controller to access.

Well, it seems like the best solution is I pull the trigger on a midi controller. I just didn't realize there were presets accessible that way. Probably my lack of attention to detail. haha. :)

I'll hopefully be picking one up soon and then I'm sure all will be fine for me!

Thanks!

I did a couple of improv pieces yesterday that both have the Ottobit Jr in them.

The Ottobit starts at 2:30 if you want to fast forward.

https://soundcloud.com/manymanyhaha/2017-05-14b-editied

The Ottobit starts at 1:13.

The Mercury 7 starts at 1:33.

Just a guitar, some amps, some effects, a kick, snare and djembe and Circular Labs Mobius. Edited for length only.

just got a mercury7 in. i'm floored by how excellent it sounds! the sounds you get with subtle pitch shifting and slow modulation are wonderful. also the swell function is the best i've ever encountered.

For the Mercury7, just wish it had a Master Volume and it worked as dual mono with something plugged into second input rather than only when it received signal on the second input.

For the Ottobit Jr, wish it has the same two things mentioned for the Mercury7 plus dual mono for the stutter and would love the option to setup the bypass switch for the second row knobs only (stutter, sequencer and sequencer mult).

But loving both nonetheless and really looking forward to what Meris does next.

Master volume would be nice for sure. I agree.

What I want is an expanded version that allows you to access the presets and manipulate/save them without a midi device. That's me just being whiny a bit though. :)

It'd also be cool if there was a reset of some sort for factory settings but I think you'd have add an app or PC editing, which would make this pedal amazeballs.

I'm still trying to get midi solution set up right now. Money is the biggest reason I haven't done so yet, so I have only myself to blame for that one.

Yeah, I'm finding the Mercury7 (and sometimes the Ottobit too) gets lots in the swirl of my six amps but if I turn the amps up that the Mercury7/Ottobit are on to compensate, then they are too loud when I turn the pedals off.
