Ok for real though. Anyone actually tried making the SHO gain a pot? The SMD soldering killed me but I kinda wanna have a little more gain going and like I would be down doing it if somebody feels it's worth it.

hmm you're right in a way, it is tempting though.. I boost it into another drive so having more gain isn't necessary ...probably

I’m interested in putting the “crackle okay” pot in to have the full range of gain from low to high. SHO adds a sparkle at low gain that can be cool, and tweaking the gain staging would probably add a lot of flexibility to the Boneshaker.
