Just finished I Dream of Wires. That really resonated with me. I need to get a modular so well.
Also for like half the movie I just watch while jamming with my drone synth set up, which was awesome
I want to go to one of those synth parties now

If you really want to go modular then do the deal. I understand the fear yet excitement about going modular. I was afraid that I would sell every other type of gear that I own, I didn't. I did sell a lot of gear that I really enjoyed but I got more gear that I really enjoy. If the modular is calling then try it, because you can always get the other stuff back if modular isn't for you.
For me, Eurorack was scary because there is always something new coming that is "must have". Once I went with Banana Plug 4U Serge and Modcan, I felt a sense of relief because there isn't the same sort of gotta have them all mentality (definitely a certain amount to get going though). I also enjoy patching bananas more too. I think the power and standards are more improved with formats outside of Euro as well.
Whatever though, they all have there pluses and Euro has some exciting modules. HAVE FUN.

I started typing up a response claiming I'd have to sell pretty much everything but half way through I realized I was being entirely unreasonable
I would need to sell everything if I actually bought a Shared System but that's not exactly the best place to start
I'm going to have to rethink things here
I probably could afford a System 0 if I sold some stuff....

Yeah I might offer him a trade but I'm having a lot of trouble convincing myself to part with one of my guitars.
Also I don't have an amp I can trade him, I only have one, so I'm not sure if he'd bite anyway because of that uppercase AND.
But still it's an excellent price. I think it's probably worth going a little further into debt
.......annnnd that escalated quickly. Meeting up with him tomorrow. Stoked!

Picked it up earlier! So freaking happy! The guy was super cool too. He was getting out of eurorack because he "doesn't have the $10000 he needs to satisfy the craving"
I haven't really put together any complex patches yet; just patched the osc through the filters and some LFO modulation stuff to test things out.
I'm reading the Maths manual now. So much to learn

Wow yeah that is an insanely useful PDF. Thanks. I'll be trying out a few of those patches this afternoon.
I've been playing with it constantly and really enjoying it.
I need to buy a 1/8 to 1/4 patch though so I can plug into an amp or PA. I've just been using headphones
I also really wish I had a sequencer and a better VCA.
Been thinking about flipping the Ripples for an Optomix; I really haven't used the Ripples all that much
We'll see though, I'm going to give it a couple months to really get to know it before I actually make some of those decisions
Does anyone have any info on the Polivoks Modulator?
The Harvestman website seems to be broken. I mostly want to understand the sample and hold section better (the LFO and white noise are pretty straight forward)

I have the Intellijel HexVCA which I love. You can't go wrong with Intellijel. Also, I bet you could get someone at muffwigglers to trade you their Optomix for your Ripples. Mutable Instruments stuff always seems to be in need over there.
Sequencers are a necessity to me in the modular world. The next on my list is the Rene. I already have an Oberkorn, and a Metropolis, I think the Rene will complement those best. I would have a whole rack of sequencers if the bank account could support it.

Usually when I have a question about the functionality of a module I check for the Doepfer equivalent on his website. He has a lot of useful info.

All of that is excellent info. Thanks again!
I'm feeling like sequencers are pretty essential to me as well.
I mean I'm really enjoying what I have but I keep thinking that I could do so much more with a sequencer.
Rene and the Metropolis are both on my radar. I'm thinking I might stick with the Make Noise theme and go with the Rene at some point though

Made this the other day:
