Update: it sounds amazing and makes me realize I'm a total moron all at once.
This is not really an 'ignore the manual' thing, although I got like 7-8 glorious sounding minutes from it while firing it up.

Analogue Haven might have more in stock? This thing is really fucking insane. It seems to be squealing and hissing at me almost all the time, and the amount of gain is ridiculous. IT MAEKS U PLEH FASTUR!

Wait, like the gameboy nanoloop? I used to love that thing. What are there pre-orders for?

A new batch of carts. I mean, I know people just download it and load it onto their own cartridges, but I'm not that tech savvy.

Unless things changed in the past few years, you can't put Nanoloop on a generic gameboy cart because of the way data is saved or something like that. You just get it from Oliver Wittchow

. LSDj can be put on any cart though.
The recent Nanoloop carts are cool though, just a big chunk PCB basically. I tend to prefer 2.3 but I bought an 1.6 cart a few years ago that I should try a bit more at some point (I still have a few DMGs in a box somewhere)...

Nanoloop also used to have different versions for different gameboys. My old old one sounded terrible through the emulated sound on an SP/advance.

Still does. Nanoloop 1.x for DMG (old grey gameboys) and gameboy color. Nanoloop 2.x for gameboy advance/SP (also works on DS and DS lite that are retrocompatible).
Both sound quite different and have a similar sequencer core but different structure beyond that, and the early 2.x (up to 2.2) are also quite different from 2.3 and upward.
I bought my first nanoloop cart around 1999 I think

.
