I mean, I agree. I have some of that gear and $22 is a stretch for it...let alone $6000. Self-Importance at its finest.

I think 'Billy Corgan' is a great way of bringing people together though. After seeing that page yesterday, I thought about the people I've had falling outs with and can honestly say...none of those people are even a fraction of how unbearable Corgan is.

I would like to think that Billy Corgan himself is answering those Reverb offers but I know it must be some poor Reverb staff member. Otherwise every single listing would be getting multiple insulting offers from me.

They are really just fishing for those deep-pocketed guitar collector types. I met a guy that had a serious shitload of guitars that were played by all sorts of famous guitar players. Like, way too many. He is the type that would maybe jump on guitar sales like these but more after the classic rock and blues legends and not the 90s alternative whatever.

I bet Little Billy thinks some of these guitars are worth six figures.

A year or two ago tom Delong announced he was selling some guitars and I was excited. I figured $2000 a piece or so.

He fucking spray painted them all and seriously fucked them all up where they are almost unplayable.

The cheapest one started at $6k

I mean, if he was going to sell them anyways why not get the free publicity? I don't see the need to get disappointed.

I think there is something tacky about it. But that's just me. To put it in perspective, I don't think anyone wants to see one of their favorite musicians do something similar to Billy Corgan, right after Billy Corgan did it. You can't help but think, "Oh no...not you too dude..."

I do get it. The Synthi alone costs more than all my gear combined. So if you have to unload a bunch of expensive gear and quickly, the prudent thing to do would be to use your name (provided you have a fan base with inordinately high gear budgets).

And you are right, there is no 'need', but it was a 'reaction' and I apologize, I shouldn't have posted about it.

I would hazard that Reverb are "recruiting" these people to do this.
