EG: You can't use an envelope on an oscillator's sound with an attenuator. You'll need VCA so you can do Oscillator -> Input, Envelope -> CV In.
I thought the Quadratt served as both Attenuator and Attenuverter. I'll go back to the drawing board.
Oh it is both Attenuator and Attenuverter (Uni -> +/- Switch). Only that though, it isn't a VCA.

I guess a simple thing to say is think of a VCA as an Atteunator/Attenuverter where you can control the level knob using a CV source.

Behndy explained it to me, I had no idea since I'm used to using digital modular stuff, where every knob can be automated and controlled.

So this thread is giant, and I don't think this has come up (nor will I hunt):

Anyone using a shit ton of triggers/gates? Which modules are good for that? Phonogene, Peaks, LxD, Radio Music are all on my rack or radar already. Building a synth largely run from complex trigger patterns.

Oh my god, your username is A+

Have you looked into things like Tempi, Pamela's Workout and the Trigger Riot?

Yes. But I am the trigger riot. I'm using a Ladik U-036 audio-to-trigger module to use acoustic drums to send gates/triggers around my system. So I'm less interested in generating them than in finding interesting places to send them.

The Xaoc Drezno + Lipsk might interest you.

just got this in trade for my Squarpamid. which, while AWESOME, i just.... i HATE the interface. i tried like two dozen times to sit down and get into it, and just can't. not for me.

but the demos and Cuckoo's breakdown video? already feels like i know how to use it without even touching it. doing the update and factory reset now, then to bed and YES TIME.

also, relevant,

Wifey - "why do you have a sock over half of your phone?"
Me - "urf. there's this guy that does AMAZING demos and tutorials, but it just makes me frustrated and angry and disturbed to look at the little mirror with his face in-"
Wifey - "is this that Cuckoo guy you have bitched to me about like 20 times?"
Me - ".................................................................................................................................................... maybe."

Plonk and Loquelic Iteritas showed up today. Hooked them up and the Pam's. Back to learning mode haha. The menus on the Pam's and Plonk aren't bad at all. It might take few weeks to get reasonably familiar with them. Also now that the Plonk is here I should focus on using the Just Friends in the envelope modes. I can get some gnarly shit out of that thing in sound mode.
I still need a mixer and some utilities.

Quadratt does both attenuverting and attenuating, and mixing too. But as mentioned above none of this is voltage controlled.

4 VCA for this seems good enough, anyway. It all depends on what you do, I know a guy who plays live a lot here (and organizes the Tokyo Festival of Modular too) who typically has no VCAs in his setup... He does tend to do heavy noise stuff though :).

Insane. I hadn't paid much attention to the Ears yet... now it's a tremendous want
