Thanks. Lifting coach checked the photos and gave me lots of good feedback. I am not consistently getting a huge breathe before every lift. I need to set my back more and I need to press my arms up way more as I get into the bottom of the squat for the snatch. I also need to bound out of it fast and waste no time at the bottom of the lift. Much to work on.

Looking good Nick! Do you think the competitive environment helped or hindered your effort? Just curious...competitive situations always give me a bit of anxiety.

I shit the bed on 290# deadlifts today. First three reps were decent, but the form on the last two was fucking atrocious. I looked like a douche and should have bailed on it. Time to deload and regroup.

That Broscience crossfit video is hilarious. I'm going to have to get back into some cross training once this Stronglifts program is over...eating like a horse and drinking way too much alcohol, up 10 lbs. Probably 50/50 muscle and fat piece of shit.

The comp was giving me some anxiety. I was least nervous during WOD 2 when I was trying to do 1RM Snatch. I'm not sure if it helps or hinders

Okay post-comp now. Dealing with some shoulder pain so Im going to be taking time off from CrossFit. Just hammering my shoulders 2 much. So I think next week im going to change up and start doing a slightly modified StrongLifts with additional stuff for the lifts I am already doing. Going to mix in front squats and overhead squats since they are building blocks for cleans and snatch (respectively). Probably will minimize the amount of strict pressing at first to let my shoulders rest some more. Also working on different parts of snatch lifts to improve technique.

Nick - hope your shoulder heals up quick. Taking a week off every couple of months is good to let your body recover IMO.

So I just finished my halfway point in the 3 month Stronglifts 5x5 program (18 workouts). I've been pretty stringent working out 3 times a week, with two off days each week.

Midway progress:

Squats 5x5: starting weight 145#; current 215# (up 80 pounds)
Bench 5x5: starting weight 185#; current 205# (up 20 pounds)
Overhead Press 5x5: starting weight 95#; current 115# (up 20 pounds)
Pendlay Row 5x5: starting weight 135#; current 165# (up 30 pounds)
Deadlift 1x5: starting weight 225#; current 290# (up 65 pounds)

Sorry for the "dear diary" entry, but it's kind of motivating to document progress.

It's awesome hearing people's stats. It's inspiring.

My friend brought Insanity (it's a workout program on DVD) with him to boxing this Friday and we tried it out for ten minutes. My legs were killing me the next day, and I couldn't even complete the entire range of motion in all the exercises. You could tell that the athletes in the videos had been doing it for months and all looked insanely ripped.

Also, I hit a plateau on Saturday night whilst watching the new Hobbit film with my sister and her boyfriend. They were talking about how weight I'd lost behind my back! That is awesome! This is what I needed to keep going. I'm finally seeing progress. I never saw progress in past exercise routines. I finally am getting fitter.

Awesome Dan! It's a great ego boost and motivator when others take notice of your efforts. :thumb: My wife has the Insanity DVD set. I tried one a couple of weeks ago and it was fucking brutal...made it about 30 minutes and was wiped out.

Did a bit of cross training yesterday with the '300 workout.' Time was 41:41...pretty damn slow.

50 deadifts 135#
50 pushups
50 box jumps 24"
50 floor wipers
50 single arm clean and press 40#
