Money.
get a fender and just ignore the blooze lawyer shit aura that comes with playing a small well made tube amp that has all the features you want lol.

getting out the sp 404 since the man with a movie camera score project (hope yall liked it...everyone did amazing!),.. finding samples that I just sat and listened to for over an hr, trying to figure out how the hell I did it..
..one of the sounds I narrowed it down to a judder repeating sample being masked over 3 times by tape echo, sample degrader, and a vinyl simulator....but the actual sound source is a mystery....it was all done on the fly, so that good ol in the moment third mind mystery game is fucking strange and scary....

Yo what does it mean when an LFO waveform is "exponentiated?" That's what it says in the manual for my MF Flange, but Moog never wrote me back about it.
Here it is from the manual:

Here it is from the manual:
It has to do with math. Waves can't be truly triangular but you can apply filters and equations and science to it to approximate one.

Stretched beyond its sum yet strunged together in harmonious bliss. ^ good tone.
There was a quote (chime in yo

) "Lfos are for Quakers."

Anyone use a noise gate for clean pauses without feedback? I normally wouldn't even consider one but this project seems to call for it.
Also thoughts on an always on compressor for bass to simulate the constant bit of compression from a tube amp after switching to solid state? I'm thinking an accountant?

I just bought a Boss MS3 and the noise gate on it definitely cleans some stuff up a bit. I don't use feedback all that much in what I'm playing even though we're high gain based... I haven't tried it out loud and proud yet. I'll let you know in a few weeks if I can manage to remember.

Ah, math-- of course I didn't understand. Thank you!

I use so much dirt through solid state amps that I never even use it anymore, but when I was going back and forth between a just on the edge of breakup tube amp to solid state, I started using an EBS Multidrive pedal. It has a few modes and I always used it with the active switch in, even though I was using a passive bass. It adds just a little bit of compression and EQ curve that imparts the tone of a mostly clean tube amp, just barely pushing due to running at gig level volume. I tried more specifically "pushed tube amp" bass pedals and hated them, made everything sound way too saggy and dirty, the EBS worked just right for me and I don't think I ever even used it in the "TUBE" mode.

I built my first pedal (Meathead clone) and it worked first time! (except the LED but oh well) Sounds fucking boss!! Very impressed with myself!

Congrats! I was one of my first builds as well, I still have it, but never really liked it, at least as a "fuzz".
I also added a master volume but then I realized both do the same thing
What transistors have you used?

I built it from
this kit (they call it the "Thug") and it came with a 2N3904 for q1 and BC182L for q2 which I think is accurate to at least one of DAM's versions? It's definitely more of a doom/stoner distortion than a fuzz but I imagine it stacks well.
I think I broke the LED when poking around with a multimeter coz I was getting it to light up but now it wont

I guess this is the amateur showing up after a generally lucky build!
The PCBs are nice and easy to follow but they're VERY cramped. I wanna get into stripboard but I think that's for the kind of people that have built up stocks of caps/resistors/transistors.

Ah got you, I used the same transistors as well but did not get those doomy toans I was expecting to get, it actually sounds more like an anemic distortion regardless the guitar or amp I'm using, but it has its own character for sure.
I built all of my pedals in vero initially and then made the jump to stripboards, and I really didn't have bunch of parts, I just sourced the parts and buy them in one single order from either Mammoth or Small Bear.
