We have a household budget that my missus manages, with my agreement, because it keeps both of us from outspending income. Transitory ownership of a custom shop relic isn’t worth bankruptcy. And my gear area would become a hoarders house without a budget, and it’s kind of absurd already. I probably should purge just to tidy up.
If I want something and don’t have fun funds on hand, I sell something. If I don’t want to sell something to fund it, I don’t want it badly enough and should be content with the things I have and use them more. Complaining about this basic fiscal reality would be juvenile.
I also have a good record of buying gear low and selling high. Makes it easier to spread the initial outlay into something nice, even after tax. It’s a good discipline to impose on nonessential purchases.

I don't even give it that much credence, every time I see references to wives laying down the law I just imagine it's a dumpy middle-aged white guy doing "my wife" in Borat voice. It's shitty comedy that's supposed to be some kind of basic bonding experience for (straight) men.
Absolutely. I don't for a moment think most of it is genuin, was only exploring how terrible the joke is or the possible genuine manchildren. As I said before
Obviously that is an extrapolating from taking their comments literally and I'm sure they're exaggerating their lack of power in the marriage for internet points (quite why you get internet points for that I don't know).

Guy showed up with a low post count wondering about why he wasn't able to fetch decent used prices on Reverb for brands like Earthbound Audio, Lone Wolf Audio, and Abominable Effects. 90% of the people who respond have never heard of these brands and accuse OP of trolling. Whether he is or not?
But this reply is such a fucking beaut:

Centaurs are obviously highly American and Christian animals. Bill Finnegan would do everything in his power to keep them from falling into the hands of those shifty Orientals!

He definitely had a distributor in The Land of the Rising Sun though.

That thread boggles me.... There have been high priced used pedals out of Japan for a long time. Sometimes they even get exclusive builds/runs. How did this person just now notice?

Some of those people who post on TGP aren't the brightest.
