Yeah, that looks cool as well. BaS seems more like an ordinary fuzz (Meathead?) with added oscillation, which can be really neat, but I tend to prefer fuzzes that were made to noise from the start. That probably doesn't make sense from a technical standpoint, though.

Anyway, Jonathan seems to know his stuff.

Even though I traded the BaS, I'd consider a SRF, a Funeral Party, any number of others. Great build and guts. The only reason I got rid of the BaS is I got a Hyper Fuzz and it was redundant.

Let the darkness consume you. As indicated by my somewhat overdone commentary, this fuzz is marketed at a specific niche in the noise fuzz market. Do not let that fool you. This is an awesome fuzz regardless of genre and/or metaphysical belief system. A somewhat basic oscillating fuzz, that does all the "ordinary" stuff, and does it well. And it is really cheap, so there's no reason not to try one out for yourself. Yeah!
That was pretty cool, I had kind of lost my interest with the 9ovS because in the beginning they only built clones (of D.A.M. and Devi for example) and didn't expect this to be anything but a clone of some really cool noise fuzz with the very same button configuration and stuff. I'm glad I seem to be mistaken. :)

But the Hyper Fuzz doesn't oscillate? :poke:

Thanks, man. Yeah, that was sort of the impression I got at first as well, but after talking a bit with Jonathan (the maker), this seemed to stand out. I mean, its probably based on something, but sounds pretty unique nevertheless. It sort of reminds me of the Wolf CPU, but raunchier?

In other news, I just started GASing for the DBA Soundwave Breakdown. For some reason I always assumed it was a more standard type of fuzz. But watching UG's demo, it sounds like something I'd like to try out.

Yes! Soundwave Breakdown is one my favorite fuzz pedals I own, and I've been hoping you'd do a demo of it eventually!

In other news, I finally got caught up with this thread and all the videos. The last one I caught was the Silver Apple demo. So many of these pedals are incredible sounding, all with their own unique quirks. It's real hard for me to decide what I want next for my "wishlist", even after taking extensive notes on each pedal, and comparing them to each other. Fuzz is a terrible (yet wonderful) addiction.

Actually I'm a little unsure of the Soundwave Breakdown. Hard to hear what range of audible oscillations is in there, and though I do love gated fuzztoanz, it might not be exactly what I'm looking for. Maybe you can shed some light on its noise making capabilities?

Regarding your other news, it's awesome that you actually take the time to watch these demos! I'm well aware that this is a very specific niche of pedals, and I'm always glad to hear from other oscillation freaks. Feel free to ask if there's any specific pedal you want more info on. :)

Looks like the Dwarfcraft Spectacular Aenima and Fuzzhugger Phantom Arcade are up next. :!!!: Also looking into the Recovery Effects Sound Destruction Device, which looks (sounds) pretty sweet.

Dude, have you ordered a phantom arcade oscillator?

Hmmm, I think it oscillates in Turbo mode? :idk: Maybe I'm mistaken. Doubt that I'll be disappointed anyway.

Maybe it does. Never played one, only drooled thinking about it!

Then we shall find out!

Thanks dude!

I wouldn't say the Soundwave Breakdown does synthy or 8-bit-type sounds, but it definitely has some neat oscillations and other noises in there. It has a pretty extreme suboctave setting, where playing notes in the higher register produces some very satisfying arpeggios. The other extreme setting makes the pedal extremely shrill, with the wimpiest fuzz tone being present underneath layers of trebley hiss. There's a great setting where there's like these awesome machine-like squelching sounds that follow every stroke you play on the guitar. A lot of the fun comes from messing with the guitar's volume knob-there's feedback, hissing, various suboctave drones, high pitched screaming (screaming can get pretty crazy), etc. I think the base fuzz tone is amazing-very warm and pleasant, yet grungy, heavy, and nasty. The pedal is good with palm muting, and I think it handles chugging metal riffing pretty well. Lastly, there's always a very pleasant frying bacon sizzle sound present, that I just love. The fuzz is gated, but you hear some of that sizzle coming through the speakers, when you're not playing, and it's very cool. If you place the pedal after a buffered pedal, it'll scream back at you when you're not playing, but refuse to scream or do the other cool sounds when you roll down the guitar's volume knob. Hope that helps!

Alright, yeah, that does indeed help. It sounds like a lot of fun, so I'll put it in my imaginary maybe-pile for now. I should actually cut down on pedal purchases as I plan on moving back to Oslo this summer, which will add new expenses to my student economy. That does not mean that I will not buy pedals, though.

Oh, and the Spectacular Aenima should be here early next week!

Do you still have the Year 4545? That ones's definitely one of my favorites, based on your demos
