Not sure if this has been asked before, but do you guys contend with power and signal cables crossing and creating noise? And if so, do you have any strategies for minimizing the interference? I'm putting together a tabletop setup and just trying to think ahead to obstacles I might encounter.

Aluminum/copper/steel lined box with holes ...run power below and signal up top.

I've had some noise issues and that is what I did years ago with a smaller board and before all these isolated power supplies were out there (I feel like they got cheaper). Haven't noticed anything that isn't ground/wall power related lately and I don't nearly take as much care as I used to

I think the right power supply will do more for noise floor than perpendicular wire crossings.

I've had a few devices that fed lfo noises though the system whether three bypassed or not, but those are rarities.

Which mixers are recommended? I currently use a Behringer UB802 which was fine for a long time, but lately there haven't been enough channels to expand the setup. I've also been using a passive submixer (DOD) and almost added a second passive DOD, which was when I realized maybe it's time to change the main mixer.

I guess I need like 8 stereo channels? (I'm not really sure how much bigger to go). Hopefully not too big or heavy. Sliders would be a plus. I'm not sure what else I need, so if there are other considerations, let me know...

My Mackie is holding up well even with lugging it about. They tend to not have all stereo inputs, so a 16-channel mixer would be pretty bulky though.

How many effects loops do you want? That's something that's really useful to think about before you buy.

A long time ago, I had another Behringer mixer with more channels and two effects loops (Pre- and Post), but it was more than I needed at the time. I had limited board space. The two effects loops confused me, somehow it was different that the single effects loop that I was used to. I could not get the effects balance right, and in combination with the size issue, I decided to flip it.

Now I've decided that my setup is going to expand, so a bigger mixer can work.
