Got some "Washed Congo Arabica" yesterday. Really earthy tasting and slightly nutty. Kind of tastes like soil but not in a bad way. It's pretty interesting. Never had a coffee like it before. Also didn't know the Congo produced coffee.

last summer i saw a guy in detroit swear that a shot of jager in a beer was "a thing."

yeah, this place is great though, with how mellow it is. but hey let's not try and dredge up old stuff. not to be altruistic or anything. mostly because i cant remember any of the details :animal:

What kind of beer was the jager shot getting dropped into (still gross).

There's lots of stuff that's great in conjunction with coffee, rather than combined with it.

I'm pretty sure I've never had Congolese coffee.

There's probably a lot of room for improvement. They've got a long way to go to catch up to the Kenyans and Ethiopians.

Batdorf & Bronson's got the Dancing GoatsĀ® Blend to commemorate the occasion.

I definitely wanna consume anything that'll make goats dance. :trippy:

Gross.
I can't do those weird euro herbal liquors.
Like there's this Czech one that doubles as a "digestive aid".

And when making the super coffee drank, I just use a splash of whisky to cut the sweetness from the other two.

Anyone ever try that "Bulletproof" coffee or sometimes it's called butter coffee? Where you put 1 tbsp grass fed butter and 1 tbsp coconut oil. It's supposed to make the buzz more intense and last longer. The first time I did it was really intense and but subsequent times have been less intense. I have been "chasing the dragon" for that first buzz again.

I had some costa rican coffee for the first time last week, it was super rad.
In fact, I'll probably have some this evening.

I hate to quote this picture yet again, but... cool-- local coffee (to me)!

We've got a couple of coffee roasters in town now. Perc, and Savannah Coffee Roasters. I love coffee, but I've never had any from either of those places. It is available locally by the cup, I'm just too cheap to buy pre-brewed coffee. They both have teamed up with the local brewers to make a local coffee beer, too.

What are you guys using for grinders? My Black and Decker burr grinder started dumping grounds on the counter a few weeks back. I wasn't able to fix it, so I got a Capresso Infinity. It was a hundred bucks, but man, this thing is nice. Quiet and consistent. Conical burr grinders are the way to go, particularly with a French press.

Now I need a new automatic coffee maker. I'm sick of buying a new one every year or two. I'm half tempted to buy one of the coffee makers they have at diners, but they're three hundred bucks!
