OMG, Bands are kicking ass. Abominable showmen were fucking great, then Rot Box played, I had a good time. Now it's the Bohemian Spaceship project with mellow lectro vibezzzzz.

Gah! Been trying to make it out there for the last few hours. It's just far enough away from my house that I need a ride. No bites yet, but I'm working on it!

No, I don't think anybody is/was.

Just got home from ILFest(which is still going on actually). We were being tired little babies and wanted to go to bed. Everybody sounded great though. I'm bummed that I've been feeling like shit and didn't actually talk to anybody(I was that kid on the stool in the corner with the green hoodie). I'm not much of a social butterfly when I'm not feeling 100%, and when I am I'm more of a moth, randomly crashing into bright sources of light....but I digress...

Did anybody else get a tangerine from that chick who got wasted during The Otto Modest? I was feeling super shitty since I woke up and some vitamin C really hit the spot!

All right, so no video... can we at least get a final write-up or ten so us non-Midwesterners can live vicariously through our browsers? Approximate ILF headcount? General overview of lineups, sound, hangouts, beers consumed, who won the Upper, etc? Did MLC drunkenly spank someone on the ass & call them "Sweetie?" Did Aen drop-kick a sucker across the parking lot? Did The Spirit of Dalton inspire someone to fall to the ground & speak in tongues? WE NEED TO KNOW!!!
I'm more like a mids-ist than a bassist.

This. How did it go?

Wish I could have made it, instead I had a 19 hour workday helping freshmen students move in and leading them through their orientation program, ungrateful bastards.

WWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

holy shit duders that was a great fucking time!!!

the borg ward is a house that has been turned into an "arts venue?" or something like that. you walk in and there is a good size room, then you go through the door way and there is the band room. no a/c so it was swampy in there. no bar or anything. no refreshments for sale or anything. the water to the toilet was shut off so i had to turn it on to get the toilet flushing. oh, there was a gas station not even a block away across the street so they got some business!

i showed up around 3pm and the showmen were hanging out and aens_wife was there. our old pal aen had gone out for lunch and left her to tend shop! dwarftcraft had a demo table set up with most of their devices out. no synth mangler or ECT but i did score the first STOMPING DOUBLE SQUARE SNAKES or SNAKS for short! :yay: moar about that later... ;)

someone invited a new pedal company called endless field electronics and they had a very down tuned bass friendly od/distortion that i would have bought if it wasnt for the SNAKS but i got a line on one in a couple of weeks! they also had a very dynamic eq but it was the one and only prototype for now. they are building more but these dudes are just getting off the ground. i got the dude paul to sign up for :ilf: his user name is lunarday so hopefully we will see him around!

the bands...

THE ABOMINABLE SHOWMEN kicked things off with a lot of energy! these kids rocked! you couldnt hear the vocals but thats alright, their stage presence made up for it. the instrumental written around aug5ths was a lot of fun! this band will be a force in the years to come! side note, i am pretty sure they were jamming some sleep during sound check.

ROT BOX was next! *the bohemian spaceship was a little bit late* ROT BOX is our old pal aen, matt from raygun and the heart pills, and their friend jeff. i think it was jeff. if not sorry... well, a moog taurus 2 was involved... serious heavy tension building improvy oscillating out freakages of raw power! and the drummer matt is very very sweaty!

THE BOHEMIAN SPACESHIP was very cool but a bit mellow to be up after ROT BOX had frothed us all up! dr.shermansticks had the crazy synthy stuff going on but they had to take off before i got a chance to hit up the merch table. there were suggested donations and a collection box but i wanted to ask about a few things. i did get to chat with the doc for a few as they were leaving. cool dude! :thumb:

THE OTTO MODEST'S FRIEND CHRISTOPHER(?) did some awesome synth, keys and xylophone jams next. dude was going crazy! very fun to watch. :trippy:

THE OTTO MODEST was next! a nice mellower but very effect driven performance. nice use of keys and such as the singer/drummer/keys man did a quick tune on an old piano in the room while juliusdeane was fixing up one of his guitars! these guys were a lot of fun to see and it was great that they came all the way up from st louis for the show. juliusdeane also had a few of the pedals on his board for sale so after the show he plopped his entire pedal board down on the merch table!!! :!!!:

THE FUCKING RONALD RAYGUN or THE RONALD FUCKING RAYGUN or even FUCKING THE RONALD RAYGUN if you ask nicely... in a word, FUCK!!! :animal:

CANYONS OF STATIC had to follow that and did they! i saw them about a year ago at the dive bar cal's in chicago. at the time the baby was a newborn so aggie did not make the trip. they played as a three piece with her parts recorded and played through an amp. they were great then. now with aggie and newish member nick they are a bit heavier and much tighter! the picture show in the background was really cool too! i could have watched them all night but nick had to pull double duty with northless so they had to end sometime...

NORTHLESS closed out the night with some punishment! dudez are heavy! HEAVY! EMPEROR CABS HEAVY!!! nick collapsed onto floor in exhaustion as the last song was ending! not from the blistering rock from two straight sets but from the fact that is was about 110 degrees in there...

so yeah, it was a great time! :ilf:

the upper jr drawing has not been held but i am about to send tom the list.

1) nieh
2) fuzzybassist
3) juliusdeane
4) snipelfritz
5) rosscanyonsofstatic
6) lunarday
7) doc sherm sticks
8) the_necropolitan
9) aens_wife

some great odds in there peoples!!!

as far as what beers were going down there was a run to a liquor store around sun down. i had brought a little bottle of crown ;) but there were some blue moons, guinness, new castles, negro modelos, and pbrs floating around... :joy:

i think there are a couple of the ilfest 2011 dwarfcraft pedals left, the hotdog minus mix knob, so ask the dwarfcrafters if you are interested! dwarfcraft did sell at least one of those, a plane ticket plus, great destroyer and the snaks! well, as far as i know that is what they sold. :joy:

it was a blast meeting those of you that i got to meet and i really hope this happens again next year. :ilfreak:

Wait, this dude wasn't an ILFer? Who the hell was he, because his set kicked serious ass.

nice use of keys and such as the singer/drummer/keys man did a quick tune on an old piano in the room while juliusdeane was fixing up one of his guitars!

I was sitting on the stool right next to the piano when he did this. It felt like a very intimate performance just for me. :)*

Yay ILFest! Let's have another one next week!

YUM!

Thanks for the comprehensive rundown, wish I could've been at that mofo.

Sucks so much :(

The man responsible for spawning this event couldn't make it. A travesty for sure!
