It's a pretty great feature.
Made the pedal even more useful(the update came in August last year).

If you need to update the software on the pedal, then yes, you need to plug it into the computer.
Use the USB on the back of the pedal.
Warning: Take backup of your presets, cause when you update the software all the presets gets reset.

It's a pretty old pedal is why. Dana didn't always have the same look across her line.
