I don't deserve reverb up front. I have small kids. I have enough chaotic noise in my life...but kudos to the bachelors in the room.vidret wrote:yeaaahhhsss reverb up front you ducking hero.Lurker13 wrote:Thanks ratrod!ratrod wrote:Dig the no frills approach, also dig the Hall of Fame up front and wah in the middle
I started to add "Doom is a pretty straightforward genre", but then I thought about that washed out, effects laden EW sound, and that's pretty cool and trippy too.

had a very nice day with that
*airtrash new in today, very musical noisy pedal. very much what i wished the thornoscillator had been (will accept recommendations for other masf pedals that aren't all volume and chaos)

Love that airtrash...and mattoverse in general. He makes some killer drone boxes too. Always keep the air trash upfront or debuffer it for that magic.MechaGodzilla wrote:grabbed no pic but

Re: Setup of the day thread?
I was sorta not in the mood for a couple weeks, but I think the heat (or the desire not do other things in the heat) drove me back to the lap steel. I'd been puttering around with trying different pedals, but I think I've settled (for a moment at least) on a rig:

Lap steel > volume pedal > Monoprice EQ Booster > Rowin Dumble > Mooer A7 > Electro-Harmonix Superego (> Pladask Fabrikat in loop) > mixer

[insert send] Drolo Molecular Disruptor > Ammoon EQ7
[FX loop #1] Empress Zoia > Korg Mini-KP
[FX loop #2] Expedition Electronics 60 Second Delay > Zoom MS-70CDR

Dropping a line to say I appreciate your style Sir. I love how you mix HIGH TECH (zoia), with "perceived" LOW TECH (the zoom... I'm not knocking Zoom, the foundation of my rig these days is my Zoom G3X), without DATED TECH (the KORG mini-KP KAOSS PAD). These are all compliments. I mean "dated" as stuff not talked about anymore or overlooked.

Re: Setup of the day thread?
The mini-Kaoss is probably at its best for playing live, so you can "let your fingers do the walking" + mix things up. It made the cut here, to some extent, because it needs its own adapter, so it's not talking up a slot in the power brick!
I wish someone would make something with that exact same footprint/format as an expression device, in which case it would be perfect with Zoia!

Re: Setup of the day thread?
I do love the Mooer A7 - the amount of reverb that tiny box can produce is astonishing! I really have to stop myself from over using the Shimmer (a decent controllable Shimmer that you can make tasteful with the tone control) and the Dream setting for totally entering ambient space
I like the Plate and Hall as well; Warp and Shake I haven't found a use for yet, an the bitcrush reverb can be great for added lofi noises... the only thing I wish it had would be a reverse reverb! (oh and maybe better translation on the instructions!). The D7 from the same series is also incredible - especially the looper function on it that allows you to make a loop and then play over it, but your added playing over the top of the loop has a delay effect in it as well so it sounds immense and breaks up the loop (especially if you run it into the A7 on Dreams mode afterwards).

Re: Setup of the day thread?
Agreed on all counts... I started with the synth one of the series and liked it enough to grab the delay/reverb, and they're way better.
The bitcrush on the A7 is great when you can twiddle with the knob and go all the way into crumbly noise, though probably not gonna do so much of that in this particular setup.

I always love your setups, and how you manage all the parallel processing through the mixer.
I don't know why but the first thought I had looking at this is how cool would it be to put a Stretch Weaver here. Should be fun to insert it and see how one channel can influence the other one.

Re: Setup of the day thread?
Ooh, yeah, I've wanted a Stretch Weaver from the get-go, but the timing has never been right. Interestingly, I've always pined for it more as a live tool, for when I get a chance to manipulate someone else's signals, but it would be fun in this bunch of stuff.
With its separate ins and outs, it's possible to create some Stretch Weaver-y sidechaining patches for the Zoia. That's an idea that's very definitely on my list of things to get around to... sometime.

Yeah using the STRETCH weaver to connect signals from two different instruments - or even better, two different players - should give some really fun results. Curious to see if you can do something similar with the Zoia!

Re: Setup of the day thread?
More like setup of the month now, anyway I've been using this small board to write and pactice during lunchtime and it sounds amazing.
